"Its your turn."
Hermione looked foggily at her current drinking buddy, bringing the bottle in her hand to her lips before she answered.
"I like dancing."
She was sure her voice was hurried and slurred, but she didn't care. She looked at the pile of empty firewhiskeys in front of her, sober enough to see that he had had just as much as her. So why didn't he look drunk in the least? He just sat there, listening to her with a small smirk on his face. As if reading her mind, he finished off his firewhiskey, taking his turn.
"I have a high tolerance for alcohal."
She frowned at him.
"So thats why you invited me to play this...If I get drunk enough, I'll say anything, but you-but you- Oh, blast it! Stop moving back and forth like that! I can't think. Between you and the room swirling.."
"I'm not moving, Granger."
"Are too! You keep going back and forth and back and- ooo..."
She raised a hand to her head, closing her eyes.
"I don't feel so good..."
"You'll be fine. Its your turn."
The whiskey burned a little as it slid down her throat, but she didn't much care.
"I watch you sometimes, when you're not looking."
"Since when?"
"Uh-uh! No questions! You shaid...no questions... Ish the rule."
"Screw the rules. Since when."
She shook her head violently, but it made the room spin even faster, so she stopped.
"Its your turn."
Annoyed, he grabbed another bottle, popping off the top.
"You intrigue and annoy me."
"I think your name is really cute."
"Your hair is too bushy."
"You're too snobbish."
"You're worse."
"What gives you the right to say that!"
"No questions, Granger."
They were both on a new bottle now, and Hermione was definitely feeling a bit drunk.
"You're a sneak."
"And you're better? I have a snake."
"My pet's a cat."
"I don't want to follow in my father's footsteps."
Hermione bit her lip as silence filled the room, and she could think of nothing to say.
"I always hoped you wouldn't." She whispered finally, seeing his brows furrow.
"Why? Wait- Nevermind. No questions. I never liked calling you mudblood."
"I stood up for you against Harry and Ron."
"My dog glued itself to the ceiling last year."
Was it her imagination, or was Draco drinking larger sips now?
"My sister is adopted."
"I like green"
"Blue."
"I love you."
"I've never li- What?"
The bottle dropped from her hands as she realized what he had just said.
"No questions or repeats, Granger."
"Hermione...And screw the rules!"
"You didn't let me do that earlier."
"Oh, screw the game, Draco! What did you just say?
He smirked.
"I thought you said that the rules were important."
"Please, Draco!"
He nearly smiled at the desperate look in her eyes. She seemed to be slightly less drunk now.
"I love you."
Draco usually loved silence, but this time it was unnerving.
"Say something..."
"Since...when?"
"Third year."
"That long?"
"I'm good at waiting."
"Why didn't you tell me before?"
"Because you would've decked me."
"Wasn't third year the time I DID deck you?"
"Exactly."
She smiled softly, getting onto her knees, pushing away the pile of empty bottles and crawled over to him. The movement got her woosy again, and she leaned against him, head on his shoulder. He tensed at first, but then simply wound his arms around her.
"I love you too, Draco." Her eyes closed, and she held softly onto the fabric of his shirt.
And for the first time since the war ended, Draco smiled.
