Summary: Havoc's been thinking...

"Sir?" Havoc glanced in the rear-view mirror. He could see Roy staring out of the window at the passing buildings as Havoc chauffeured him home for the evening.

Roy drew his sleepy gaze away from the hypnotic roll of scenery outside of the window and looked up at Havoc. "Yes?"

"There's something I've been wondering about," Havoc said, glancing in the mirror once more before pinning his eyes on the road ahead.

"What's that?" Roy asked lazily as he sunk into the seat, eyes going half mast.

"I was wondering, sir, why every time one of my dates suddenly calls off, you spend the evening at home. Alone." Havoc looked into the mirror again, but couldn't spare more than a few seconds watching for his commander's reaction.

"And just how would you come about information such as this Second Lieutenant?"

"Reconnaissance sir. One must know the enemy in order to counter them."

Roy chuckled. "Is that so?" He studied the back of Havoc's head thoughtfully. "Would you believe me if I told you that Fury was the one stealing all of your dates?"

"I'd believe you as much as if you'd told me that Fullmetal's monthly expenses contained no damage claims." They both knew that Edward Elric could hardly move from one town to the next without breaking, blowing up, alchemising or otherwise destroying someone's property. Havoc watched the dusky glow of street lamps flash by as he waited for Roy's response.

"Then I suppose that you've caught me Second Lieutenant," Roy eventually replied.

"Why do you feel the need to steal my dates if you aren't even going to show them a good time?" Havoc made the familiar right turn onto the Colonel's street.

"Perhaps, it's not that I'm trying to take them away from someone so much as keep them away from someone," Roy said thoughtfully, a little smirk firmly planted on his lips.

"There's a difference?" Havoc raised his eyebrows.

"To me there is."

Havoc nodded as he pulled the car up in front of the Colonel's apartment building. He parked and turned the car off. Roy watched, curiously, as Havoc put his arm across the seats and turned to face him. "Well sir, as I recall, I had a date tonight, but she suddenly had other plans."

"That is quite unfortunate," Roy said, not looking the least bit sympathetic. He leaned forward on the seat as he prepared to exit the car. "Perhaps you'd like to join me for a drink then?"

A slow grin slid across Havoc's face. "I think I'd like that sir."

Roy leaned closer. "Yes, I think I would too," he murmured, mere inches from Havoc's ear.

Havoc shivered at the gust of hot air across his ear. His eyes followed Roy as he exited the car with a sly backward glance.

"Coming?" Roy questioned.

"I will be sir," Havoc replied with a breathlessness that could not be chalked up to his nicotine habit.

"Excellent," Roy purred as he lead the other man to his apartment.
