…these were the three words that gave Draco something that he had always wanted but had never, ever achieved.
A family.

Well, that was about the reaction that she had anticipated when she thought about how she should tell him.
"Are you insinuating…?"
"Yes, Draco, you're the father of my children," Hermione said. She had hoped that she would never have to do this, that she could live a long and happy life with Ron and not ha to worry about Draco Malfoy finding out that she had used him.
"But—we've only had sex twice," he said.
"Yes, and I have two children, both of which were born approximately nine months after us having sex." She didn't want to tell him the truth. She had always wanted Draco Malfoy. Gods, when she had been taking care of him for that year after sixth year she had to convince herself so many times not to touch his gorgeous body, to not sneak a glance at him while he was in the shower.
Ron had finally confessed his love for her two days before Malfoy had told her that he wanted her. She had been so shocked about him returning her feelings and also felt loyal to Ron that she had just laughed it off when all she really wanted to do was jump him while he was in the shower.
"Isn't it highly unlikely that you would get pregnant both times?" Draco asked and Hermione sensed that he was trying to argue against her because he didn't want the kids to be his or he didn't want her to be their mother and he thought her incompetent. He had apparently gotten over her. Hermione's heart squeezed at the thought.
"I guess I'm just a very fertile person," she said.
He looked confused and damn it, only he could look so damn sexy while he was confused.
Hermione missed her husband so much but she wanted to be over him. She couldn't have Ron back and really, Ron was her second choice for marriage. If she hadn't been Ron and Harry's friend she thought, to herself at least, that she would have married Draco Malfoy. She wanted him in her life.
She lied.
She told Draco that Ron couldn't have children but the truth was that Hermione always used contraceptive spells when she had sex with her husband. On the other hand, when she made love to Draco—two amazing times—she used fertility spells to make sure that she would get pregnant. If she couldn't have him then she could at least have a part of him.
Now it seemed like that was all she would get. Draco was obviously over her if he was arguing with her this much. If he had just smiled and been happy then she would be happy too.
"Faith and Grace are mine." It wasn't a question when he muttered the words; it was more of an epiphany.
"Ours," Hermione said.
He looked into her eyes and smiled. "Ours."
"We can figure out something, Draco. You can have them for the weekends or something and I'll have them during the week so I can take them to school," Hermione offered, knowing that he wanted to get to know his daughters even if he didn't want her.
She saw him frown.
"Or I can just keep them, I don't really need help raising them," Hermione said. Apparently she had misinterpreted him before and he didn't want the girls. "I mean, I've done it for the last six months and I'm a good mother so you don't have to think that I'm incompe—"
"Hermione, shut up," Draco said before grabbing her around the neck and dragging her face to his and taking her lips in a fortuitous kiss.
These were the three words that led to a lot of snogging between them on the chairs next to the dance floor, reflections casting off the broken glass and shining on them as they told each other through the fierceness of their kisses how much they loved each other.
They were the three words that led to two dates before they finally made love again after three years and Hermione was still there in the morning. They were the words that led to a relationship that earned them both countless jealous glares.
Neither could count how many times that Draco said those three words but it was often spoken before him seizing Hermione's lips and leading to snogging and shagging.
But most of all and most importantly, these were the three words that gave Draco something that he had always wanted but had never, ever achieved.
A family.
