Chapter 20: Of One Mind

-Previously-

"YOU LEFT US BEHIND!" Narell screamed, startling several near by servants, who in turn scurried away. "Well if you must know we couldn't help ourselves, being in love/lust kinda drives you not to think strait..." Hiei said in defense. "AND YOU! You could OF STRUGGLED!" Narell huffed in aggravation seeming to get madder by the minute. Kagome sighed and turned to look at Narell "You know I didn't want to... Look I'm sorry we left you behind, but stuff happens." she tried reasoning.

Andrell put a hand on Narell shoulder to calm her down "You just need to calm down its something that just happens." she said calmly. Narell Huffed and the shrugged "Well I'm assuming that I'm staying here? Well just don't get killed. Kay?" They all nodded.

They where heading out of the castle, but this time they needed to get back to Hogwarts and as quickly as possible. Kagome walked side by side with both Hiei and Sesshomaru. She turned and started to rummage inside her bag and out popped Yasei (Means, if I'm not mistaken: Night Star.) He looked up at her with the sweetest eyes ever. In Yasei mouth was a note. 'How did that get in there?' she thought, while opening the letter.

Dear Kagome,

You Haven't written me in so long! I'm YOUR MOTHER, you should be writing me about your school and whats happening with you. Did you make new friends? Please listen to your mother and wright me back and with juicy details!

Mom

Kagome saw two shadows leaning over her in silence. Then they both let out a soft snort that lead into very loud snickering. Kagome blushed and threw the letter in the bag of hers, growling at her mates "Shut up, she a little crazy sometimes..." but they just laughed more, making her beat red. Trying to calm herself she picked up Yasei and snuggled with the little dog sized dragon to her chest, while also picking her pack up again and making sure the dragon egg was still okay. Then she started walking away in a huff toward the castle door.

"Oh come on baby!" they said in unison together whilst still snickering. Kagome only huffed once more and walked faster. Suddenly they both made an odd grunt that made her pause and look behind her. They where once again morphed together, but it didn't seem voluntary... They made an odd gurgling sound and collapsed onto the hard marble floor beneath them. She rushed over and check their pulse. It was steady, but the worry didn't leave her face.

She had learned from the book Narell gave her, how to heal. So she did just that and laid her hands on his chest, they glowed a soft blue and the light enveloped their body. But they still didn't stir. Yasei licked their face and cocked his head to the side. He mewed softly jumped onto her shoulder.

0O0(Dream)0O0

They both sat up in their dream... everything was a dark void, though the floor was reflective enough for them to see themselves. They where once again merged into one. 'Whats going on?' their thoughts seemed to meld together so much that they didn't know who thought it first. They both heard maniacal laughter all around them. While the walls seemed to close in on them.

"I speed the process up, but oops I think I broke them ha ha ha ha..." an maniacal male voice shouted hysterically. It seemed to come from everywhere. "Who are you?" they shouted, getting dizzy. "Its not for you to know..." the man replied "No no no!" he repeated.

They could no longer tell each other apart it seemed. They had all their memories, but not really knowing who they were anymore... "Fixed the way its meant to be!" the voiced sounded once again, though more distant, but still all around. "Time to wake...UP!" The world seemed to spin and they fell into what seemed an endless void...

Kagome, his love hovered over them, no him? Along with Narell... Yasei licked their... no his face. "What happened?" he mumbled. Then he remembered the dream and that insane voice... 'Why did... Who was he?' He struggled to sit up and all he could do was stare at her... She seemed to be his only anchor... to who he once was. Kagome stared at him in complete and utter worry and confusion. "What happened?" she said touching his face.

"I...we... a man and closing walls..." He struggled to speak and then the dream seemed suddenly so distant. "I heard a crazy man, he was mumbling... He broke us! Made us... me whole faster? No..." His thoughts felt so jumbled and then all the sudden he seemed to feel normal. Kagome could only stare at them with a knowing fear creeping into her mind... 'Haku... What did he do? Or was it Naraku...' she thought, the dread seeping into her mind like a poison.

He shot up from the floor and picked Kagome up with him. "We need to go back to Hogwarts!" she patted his shoulder 'He's doesn't seem lucid... he's to in and out.' she noted to herself. "They can wait... we need you to get checked out first." she said while pausing to turn her head to look at Narell "Hey can we see if we can get Andrell back here? He needs some help..." Narell turned to look at Kagome, looking pale and disturbed. She nodded absentmindedly and left down the hall in a running sprint.

She wiggled from his arms and he let her down. He looked down at her confused as if him being like "this" was not normal. He brought his hand up to cup her face "What are you talking about? I'm... were...fine..." he said in a slurring voice as his hand slumped to his side. He fell into Kagome arms, seemingly unconscious again just as Andrell rushed into the foyer. "What happen? I was just here and he seemed fine..."

Kagome shook her head in dismay, relaying what had just happened to Andrell. What had just seemingly happened out of nowhere. "Who can this man be?" Andrell pondered out loud while staring at the fallen Sesshomaru/Hiei, their head in Kagome's lap. "I don't really know, all I can do is guess... Maybe Haku? He was from my nightmare that I had a while ago... Maybe Voldemort was controlling Haku? Or did he just drive Haku insane to the point he could do something like this?" Kagome said while moving a stray hair away from his face.

Just as soon as she finished speaking an out of body voice broke into the surrounding area "You cant fix them... I broke it! Ha ha ha ha ha!" Kagome looked around the foyer, not seeing the intruder. She seethed with anger, almost screaming "Who are YOU?"

Suddenly she felt a hand on her face while an unexplainable gust of wind play with her hair. "Haku..." the voice spoke seemingly from nowhere. Tears streamed from her eyes "Fix them!" she shouted.

"No no no he wouldn't want that, I don't want that..." he said in a maniacal voice while and eerie laughter broke out in the foyer and faded as Narell ran into the room with a couple of guards. "Help us carry him to his room." She ordered. The guard Zen looked at her quizzically "Who is he?" She explained there and then what had happened again, getting stunned expressions in return. "I... Okay lets go." Zen said in a disturbed voice, picking Sesshomaru/Hiei up with the other guards in tow.

Andrell paced back and forth while rereading the scroll tightly crunched up in her hands. "All I can derive from this scroll is that they were messed with conscious wise and physically just enough that it caused them to give up on any separation of any kind and merge into one being completely. It's not saying how it can be reversed... It does say if this were to happen they could change only to one form they used to have at a time. It seems hopeless to fix them..." she paused staring at Kagome and continued "Its... I'm sorry..." she said falling into the chair next to her. Narell grumbled "Just great..." under her breath, while all Kagome could do was cry.

After a while of silence in the room, Sesshomaru/Hiei suddenly woke up. Sitting up in bed they looked at Kagome and asked "We both in this form have decided to be called... Ember..." Kagome quirked an eyebrow "What... are you guys separated somehow?" She asked hopefully. Ember shook his head no "No we...I just remember who I used to be..." He shook his head and sighed heavily. "I will figure out how to work... Like this?" he said looking at his hands and the rest of his body.

Kagome nodded saying "We need you to change back into the form of Sesshomaru." He sighed, but agreed, shape shifting into one of his old forms. Leaning over from the bed he kissed Kagome and smiled. "Lets go" He said while standing up and taking her into his arms, grinning. "At least I have you."

Kagome snuggled into his arms and sighed "Let me go get our stuff first." As she reluctantly got out of his arms. Yasei mewed at her while jumping into Embers arms instead and sitting proudly,licking his face. They all laughed at the cute display, a needed relief from the tense day.

Soon Kagome had everything together "How about we just teleport back?" She said while petting Yasei and yawning. They said their goodbyes again and then he wrapped his arms around her and soon the room was empty except Andrell and Narell. Kagome felt the cold and airless feeling once more 'I'll never get used to that' she thought as Hogwarts came into view. They took their stuff back to dormitory and she left to find her friends while he went to find Dumbledore.

The room was dark, but for only several candles lit on an old rustic desk. A snake like man with no nose to speak of leaned heavily on the wooden surface. A gust of wind shook through the room leaving only two candles burning. A maniacal disembodied male voice sounded through the dark room. "I did it... She was so sad... sad sad sad... Her protectors will never be the same..." The snake like man grinned, fangs glistening in the candle light.

"You did well Haku. I will let her die a swift death... and then you can have her once again." Voldemort said in a low grumble. 'My torture seemed to break him just enough... He's completely lost it... I should make him continue to keep an eye on her. She will not get in my way!' he thought while a half insane sound of maniacal laughter resounded through the room. "Continue to keep an eye on her and report what they do to me from now on, Haku." The only response he got was the two candles still burning going out, plunging the room in complete darkness.

Ember climbed the winding staircase leading into Dumbledore's office. He knocked and heard a grumble too enter. Opening the door, he presented himself as Sesshomaru even though he knew that he was no longer just him. "I'm back from my excursion." he said simply. 'He knows somethings wrong...'

Dumbledore eyed his teacher of the dark arts while raising an eyebrow. "Well your not the same anymore... What happened?"
