People die for many things. For revenge. For love or the lack thereof. For any number of noble or un-noble purposes, dying for a cause has been popular throughout history. But the greatest cause to die for has always been freedom.

Freedom is such a strong word. The greatest of men and women have given up their lives so that the word may forever ring throughout our ears. Mothers and fathers have wept but stood straight with pride at gravesides because their children have died for freedom. People must die that others may live in freedom.

Throughout Scottish history, the name of William Wallace is known to all. The man stood for the greatest kind of freedom and he fought for the fiercest of loves. He is known as one of the greatest noble men and a man of even greater courage. But there is another Wallace that is held dear and close to the hearts of all good Irish and Scottish men and women. Her name is said in a hush tone of respect. Eyes twinkle and glow with pride when her tale is told. Her name was Katie Wallace and she was the sister of William Wallace. It is said that her hair was as red as hell and her eyes as blue as heaven.

She fought for the same reason her brother did: freedom. And they where both bravehearts.
