I got quite a few votes for two fics, so I'll be writing both, though I probably won't finish so quickly then. THIS IS THE NON-YAOI VERSION! If you'd like the yaoi one, it'll be online shortly under "Guest for a While- Yaoi Version," on this screenname.

For a few minutes, Tezuka just stared after Atobe, gaping. Then he shook his head, as though to clear it. This won't do, he finally decided. Atobe mad he could deal with, but Atobe upset…

He knocked softly on the door to Atobe's room. "Atobe, I'm coming in."

"Whatever."

He pushed open the door, and wasn't surprised to see Atobe sitting on his bed, scowling. "Atobe…" Tezuka tried. "I'm sorry."

"No, you're not," Atobe snapped bitterly. "You put on a mask at all times and think it's normal to do so, but it never occurs to you that not everyone's like that. I'm real!"

Like at the funeral and with Oishi? But now, Tezuka didn't want an argument. "I understand."

"No, you don't," Atobe said, sullen.

"Is there any way I can make it up to you?" Tezuka finally asked, then mentally slapped himself. NEVER say that to Atobe Keigo!

Atobe shrugged. "I was only hanging out with Oishi because none of my friends came over. Oshitari told me that it's rude to just assume that Hyotei can come visit me at someone else's house."

"What do you normally do with them?" Tezuka sighed.

Atobe smiled a bit. "Well, I have huge parties and invite everybody who's anybody in school, but…" a shad crossed his face. "I can't do that in such a small house."

"Why don't you have just one or two people at first?" Tezuka suggested, resigning himself to the idea.

"One or two? That's hardly a party!" Atobe said disbelievingly. "How about ten?"

"Ten? That's-"

"I'm sure Kaa-san won't mind!" Atobe said brightly. "Why don't you ask her right now?"

"I should ask her about your party?" Tezuka demanded.

Atobe slumped down. "I don't want to impose," he whispered, looking down.

"Alright, I'll do it," Tezuka sighed, relieved that at least Atobe was normal now.

--

The moment Tezuka left the room, Atobe let a slow smile spread over his face. That was easier than expected- just one outburst and he's eating out of my hand…

He picked up his cell phone and called Oshitari. "Oshitari?"

"Did it work?" Oshitari demanded.

"Of course it did. It was MY brainchild, and I'm always right."

"And modest, too," Oshitari muttered.

Atobe chose to ignore the comment. That was Oshitari, always jealous. "I think I'll be able to make it a sleepover, too. And I got ten people, not seven, so we can pick three other people, too."

"Got anyone in mind?"

Atobe considered. "I think I do…"

--

Tezuka made sure to lock his door securely twenty minutes before the first guests would arrive. He planned on staying in his room the whole night.

--

Atobe smirked from the next room, then headed downstairs. "Kaa-san, I'm worried that there won't be enough room in my room for everyone."

Ayane smiled fondly at the boy. "Why don't you use Kunimitsu's room? Aren't you inviting several Seigaku students, too? They can sleep in Kunimitsu's room."

"Thanks!" Atobe bounced up the stairs. "I'll tell Kuni-chan!"

--

"And I think that Hiyoshi, Gakuto, and Shishido will sleep in your room," Atobe decided. "Maybe Oshitari, too."

Tezuka frowned. "Why not that Otori or Jiro?" He was pretty sure that they were the considerate or sleepy ones in Hyotei. At least he knew they wouldn't bother him.

Atobe shook his head. "They'll stay with the rest of us. Maybe Taki can come to your room instead," he suggested.

Tezuka sighed an exasperated sigh. "Maybe I'll stay over at Oishi's," he said finally.

Atobe smirked. "Don't bother. He's not available."

"You didn't!"

"Well, after the regulars and Taki, I still had two people left, so…"

"Not Fuji, too!" Tezuka snapped, horrified.

"What about me?" asked an innocent voice from the stairs.

Tezuka spun around. "Fuji! How could you?"

Fuji shrugged apologetically. "Well, Oishi said he was coming, and Eiji wanted to know what would happen if I went, so…"

"My first guest!" Atobe grinned widely. "Looks like you're stuck here, Kuni-chan!"

--

The guests filed in bit by bit, nearly every Hyotei player sending a sidelong smirk Tezuka's way. Oishi gave him a genuine smile. "I'm glad you're trying to make Atobe feel at home by throwing this party for him."

Tezuka ground his teeth together. "Why don't you and Fuji stay in my room instead of all the Hyotei troublemakers?"

"Sorry, but I was told personally by Atobe that he wants me to sleep in his room," Oishi said apologetically. "I guess we really hit it off earlier."

"I guess so," Tezuka agreed reluctantly. He knew now that he had been had earlier, and he wasn't ecstatic about being manipulated.

"Oishi!" Atobe called from in his room, where he sat regally on the bed while the others sat around him on the floor. "Come here! I want to tell them about what we did earlier."

"See you," Oishi offered, headed into Atobe's room.

Tezuka sighed. At least now he'd get some peace and quiet for a few minutes. Maybe he could read his book…

No such luck. Akutagawa Jiro was sprawled out on his bed, fast asleep, and Mukahi Gakuto was doing some form of acrobatics in the center of his room. "Hey, Kuni-chan!" the boy greeted him, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "So nice of you to give up your room for Hyotei tennis practice!"

"I didn't-" Why was all of Hyotei no longer afraid of him? Had he done something wrong?

"Atobe said it would be fine," Gakuto said flippantly, somersaulting straight at Tezuka, knocking the taller boy over. "In fact, he suggested it!"

"I'm sure he did." Tezuka was suddenly bone-weary. He headed downstairs to make himself some tea, glancing into Atobe's room for a moment. Atobe was wearing Tezuka's regular jersey and Oshitari's glasses, and appeared to be doing a Tezuka impression. Oishi looked slightly uncomfortable. Serves HIM right…

--

Downstairs, Tezuka wasn't surprised to find Fuji, calmly sipping some tea. "Great party, Tezuka," the other boy offered. "I'm really having fun."

"Shouldn't you be upstairs, documenting all the fun so you can report to Kikumaru?" Tezuka asked, only half-joking.

Fuji considered. "Probably, but seeing as Hyotei's trying to suck in Oishi, I figured you could use a friend right now."

"Thank you, Fuji." Tezuka kept a calm face, but he was inwardly grateful. "That is appreciated."

"Plus, the real fun is supposed to start at midnight," Fuji added casually.

Tezuka froze. "What's happening at midnight?"

Fuji's eyes opened, and he did a fair imitation of an Atobe smirk. "Stick around and you'll find out…"

Tezuka prayed that he would return from this night alive.
