Naruto knew Sasuke's heart fluttered when he saw Naruto at the bottom of the cliff; though Sasuke's face and words did not betray this.

Naruto furrowed his brow when Sasuke said, "I saved you on a whim," because Naruto knew he really meant, "I couldn't kill you because I care about you."

When Sasuke appeared at Naruto's side and hugged his shoulder Naruto knew Sasuke craved the touch. Though Sasuke would never admit it. Though he hated contact.

And when Sasuke spoke into his ear Naruto knew that Sasuke longed to say the words, "I'm sorry; I missed you so much."

But he didn't. And it didn't even matter to Naruto what Sasuke said.
As long as it was Sasuke saying the words.
Even if it was Sasuke threatening his life.
It was enough that Sasuke was there, at his side.

It has been a long two and a half years.

Naruto couldn't help himself; he had to smile.
