Resolved at last

Authors Note: This was written after seeing the movie once, and I just had to get my own happy ending, this is AU but can contain spoilers.

Paring: Jack/Ennis

I'm divorced. Need to talk, fishing trip in august?

Ennis

Jack felt hopeful, for once. He wrote a quick card back as reply

Sure, I'll be there

Jack

When the date of the trip became closer Jack felt more anxious. When he finally was at the site of Brokeback Mountain he was more than relived to see Ennis truck already there. As soon as he had closed the truck door he found himself in the strong arms of his lover. He wasn't late to wrap his arms around him and just soak in the smell of horse, sweat, man and that almost smell of summer that was unique to Ennis. They just held each other before Ennis pulled back and smiled

"You remember what I told you after that first night?"

"Yeah, that it could only be on Brokeback, and you aint queer. I remember."

"Well, I was wrong. I wondered if that offer of yours still stands?"

Jack frowned and then it was like all tension left his body.

"Really?"

Ennis nodded and was about to answer his lover as Jack kissed him. The need for what they both had denied them self for to long, was evident in their kisses. They broke away to breath sooner than they would have preferred. They were still holding each other when Jack spoke, his voice thick with emotion.

"A cabin, just you and me, on a ranch?"

Ennis nodded.

"If that is what you want."

Jack positively beamed.

"Your mind if I say something that sounds awfully queer?"

"Go ahead."

Ennis smiled as Jack blushed and said.

"I really missed you. It was a real pain, thought my chest was ripped open, and the only thing that makes it better was you...?"

"Ssh"

Ennis whispered. That made Jack pulled away.

"Am I to queer for you?"

Ennis shook his head.

"I don't care 'bout that, not anymore."

Jack sat down on the grass and spoke up.

"Why, it seemed like it was very important for you before."

Ennis shrugged and spoke.

"After the divorce was finished Alma said:

'It might would have worked if you hadn't filled your heart with someone else.'

She meant me but it made me realize she was right I filled it with you. Which made me give up on my thinking on the subject. Feeling like I do would make me queer anyway."

Jack looked suspicious.

"Just like that?"

Ennis smiled sadly and sat down next to Jack.¨

No I had to think about it for two month by myself first and than I needed a week to gather the courage to ask you."

Jack held his eyes closed as he felt Ennis arms wrap them self around him. He leaned closer to his lovers body and sighed.

"Do you know how much I've wanted to hear that during the last couple of years? I knew you weren't queer but I thought more and more that I was."

There were no answer needed, they just sat there and enjoyed the closeness. Then Ennis spoke.

"We need to get that tent up. Then we can call it a night early."

Jack nodded against his shoulder and got up. They rose the tent and got their blankets. Later when they both were sated Jack were lying back against Ennis.

"Can you hold me tonight?"

Ennis was taken by surprise, but he really didn't mind. He dropped a kiss on the top pf Jacks head and said

"Sure can. Is there any reason why you had to ask?"

Jack squirmed.

"Yeah, I always had to hold her, being held is nice. And it makes it feel more real."

Ennis nodded slowly then he tightened his hold of the taller man. That they spent spooning each other, Ennis arms wrapped around Jacks body. It was the first of many nights they spent in that fashion but their future was far from problem free.
