A/N: Not a real fic, just a ficlet. I was listning to the song 'Freefalling' and it gave me this. There's a companion pic to it: www. fanart-central. net/ pic-502554. html

Just take out the spaces.

Freefalling

She felt freer than she ever had.

"Kimiko!" cried Clay, running as fast as he could, knowing he wouldn't get there in time.

She felt like a bird, flying thousands of feet above where she'd eventually land.

"Kim!" screamed Rai, powering himself with his elemental wind. He was farther away than Clay.

She tried not to think about the landing, tried to think about how she wished she could stay up here forever.

Omi was by far the closest, but he was so small. What could he do? "Kimi-kun," he moaned, burying his head in his hands, not daring to watch.

Landing was inevitable, though, and her limp body winced, thinking of the sickening crunch her bones would make.

But suddenly…

Suddenly, where thin air should've been, a pair of warm arms caught her. The arms tightened, the calloused hands took better grip, as though her rescuer was afraid he'd drop her. She began shaking with exhaustion and adrenaline, and he held her even tighter. A rough but soothing voice said, "I caught you, I can't believe I caught you."

She felt a small bump as her rescuer's feet touched ground. Her shaking began to subside, and he laid her gently on the ground.

"Kim?" said an anxious, foreign-sounding voice. She couldn't recognize it: her brain wasn't registering anything just yet. Against her wishes, she blinked open her eyes and a tan face, mere inches from her own, swam into view.

"Rai?" she asked groggily. Her voiced sounded unfamiliar to her own ears.

"Good Lord, Kim, you had us scared to death," said her southern accented friend, squatting down beside her.

"What'd you mean by dangering Kim like that?" demanded Rai, pulling Jack up by the collar.

"Don't," moaned Kimiko, reaching out to Jack. Rai let him down roughly, causing him to fall. He crawled over to Kimiko.

"Listen," he started in his coarse voice, "I don't know why I caught you, you were just falling, and I didn't want to be witness to your death."

"No one expected you to catch me…" she said, looking up at him, "but you did, and that's all that really matters."

"Yeah," murmured Jack, standing up. "I guess it is." He activated his heli-bot and said, "Back to worst enemies tomorrow." He looked at Kimiko wistfully for a moment, then something seemed to click behind his eyes. He peeled off his goggles, tossed them to Kimiko, and sped off.

Kimiko strapped the goggles onto her forehead and smiled at the shrinking dot, knowing that they'd never quite be worst enemies ever again.
