The one and only fiction ill ever write post twilight...I miss Kate

It had been two weeks of constant investigations but they were no closer to catching their serial killer. Their fearless leader had been in an incredibly irritated mood since the beginning of the investigations and the dead ends and dishonest marines were not helping.

Tony stood in front of Gibbs desk attempting to lighten the mood,

'Well we could always send McGee in undercover'.

His attempt failed however as Gibbs hand struck the back of his head.

Tony winced and was about to respond when he suddenly stopped. He looked around the room and his eyes than darted back to Gibbs, "Boss can I ask you a question"

"If I say no, you're going to ask anyway right?"

"Well I was just kind of wondering…well umm"

"Spit it out Dinozzo"

"You never hit Kate" Tony blurted out. "You hit McGee, you even hit Ziva and you're always hitting me…but never Kate, you never, not even as a joke… why?"

Gibbs sat at his desk stunned, in the past year and half the entire team had only mentioned Kate a handful of times, the memories were to painful otherwise. His eyes scanned the room and he was met with the six piercing eyes of his team, staring at him, obviously interested if he would answer the question.

"Get back to work all of you" he roared.

The truth was that he had never laid a hand on Kate. He knew she would never allow it. Kate was the only one who would have enough courage and conviction to slap him right back. Gibbs felt that all too familiar clench in his throat. Every time he though of his Caitlin, he could feel his whole world fall apart. Everyday he wished he could have one more day, one more day to pull her aside and kiss the daylights out of her.

He knew Tony's question would be asked again, Tony would persist until he got his answer. When that time came he was not going too hide behind his intimidating tone or aggressive glare. He would give them the answer they deserved to know. He loved her.
