I was inspired by a certain picture (which can now be found on my livejournal), to write humor.

It's really bad, but at least it amuses me.

-Tiger Hug-

Rei came in late from work, two hours late, to be precise. He continuously sighed as he glanced at his watch. At least he was going to get time and a half, for his overtime hours. They had been making him stay late all week, in the kitchen to help the night crew prepare for the next day.

Even though he often walked into his apartment, tired, sore, and cranky, being a head chef in a fine restaurant was definitely worth it. His paychecks agreed with him. But more importantly than the money, he always returned home to a backrub and plenty of comforting kisses…from Kai.

Rei kicked his shoes off, peeled off his jacket, and practically ran down the hall to find Kai. He knew that his lover would never eat a meal without him, unless he had consent, and so Kai was probably in bed, taking a nap. Sometimes, Rei wondered if Kai was not secretly a feline as well. He took catnaps all the time, usually when he was reading, or when no one was home. Rei figured he was just…rubbing off on Kai.

The bedroom door was closed and so gently, Rei opened it, before stepping inside. However, he did not find Kai napping! He found a white tiger, sprawled out on his bed, instead. Rei almost screamed as he stumbled out, eyes wide in a panic, until he realized that the tiger was a fake.

The only ferocious animal in his bed was Kai, dressed up like a tiger. He could see Kai's face, revealed from under the tiger's mouth, which rested atop his head. The thud noise Rei made, when he fumbled backwards was enough to wake Kai up from his slumber. He turned and saw Rei, who had begun to laugh, but he did not find it funny.

''Damn it! I fell asleep!'' Rei heard Kai mutter, as he walked inside the bedroom.

''Kai…you…''

''Surprise, kitten!''

Red eyes looked up at the amused expression as he chuckled uneasily.

''Rei…you're probably wondering…what's going on…'' Kai sat up, though it proved to be challenging, as the thick costume restricted some of his movement.

''Kai this is…very unlike you…'' Rei sat down beside him and continued to giggle, with every glance he took at his lover.

Kai was already well aware of that fact but nevertheless, he explained himself, for good measure or Rei might think he was rubbing off on him, just a little too much, since they had moved in together.

''I got an e-mail at work a while back…and there was this man, standing there, getting hugged by a real white tiger. It…made me want to hug you…''

Rei leaned into the furry feeling of Kai's suit and wrapped his arms around the tiger. It almost felt like he was hugging a mascot but he was glad to feel such comfort and it did make him smile. Kai grinned and pulled his kitten closer, into a furry embrace.

''I'm not even going to ask where you got that from…''

''Oh, I had it custom made…so I can give you tiger hugs, whenever I want…''

''That's cute and creepy, at the same time, Kai…''

''I know.''

Fresh off the press, I just- just finished this. Clearing some blockage, you know.

I kinda ripped off myself, in the process. I tend to do scenes where Rei's just gotten home from work and Kai is waiting with a surprise…so that's why, this time- Kai messed up. Not everything can go so smoothly, right?
