A/N: This sucks. Seriously. I met get a little feedback and then just take it down.

The term best friend is misleading, in your case. It implies understanding, knowing each other. Finny is your best friend and you are his, because no one can come any closer to the two of you, but you will never, never understand him.

There is some element of goodness in Phineas, a purity, light and joy that is utterly alien to you.

It is but human nature to fear what you do not understand.

Your classmates are not complex creatures; you look at them and, easy enough, you can see their motivations, their wishes, the things that make them who they are.

But Phineas—Phineas is someone you cannot study, someone it is impossible to analyze.

It starts gnawing, stronger and stronger, after a time. How does he retain his innocence, how does he see the world the way he does? He is good and pure, and everything you are not, a golden-haired angel among schoolboys, and you want to see him lose his damn wings.

You need to bring him down to your reach, down to where you are, so you can understand him, you just need to understand him…

You watch him fall with an almost unrecognized sense of urgency. Maybe this will bring him down, among the rest of you, to become like the rest of you.

But it doesn't. You watch him hobble across the grounds, crutches tucked close, and all you feel is weariness. It doesn't make him like the rest of you. Nothing could do that. He's crippled in body, but still so out of reach…

He still has his wings.
