Chapter 7 Confrontation of Good and Evil

Lancaster Sr. paced in front of the Tree of the Dead, waiting for Ichabod to return back to the surface of the living. Since Ichabod's departure to Hell to retrieve the Sword of the Damn the day turned to night where Lancaster now waited for him. His breath was visible in the cold night air as he started muttering angrily to himself.

"Damnit, where is he? The fool should have been back by now!" he muttered more as he continued to pace in front of the tree. Finally the tree started to come alive as its branches twirled and coil away from the entrance leading to Hell. A figure started to emerge from the entrance which revealed itself to be Ichabod teetering out of the entrance, his clothes tattered and torn from the waist up and looked paler than usual.

"Lancaster?" Ichabod's voice was too soft with harsh pain at the end as he collapsed down on the ground.

"By the great Lord," Lancaster gasped as he rushed over to the fallen man and hurried to help him up and away from the tree, "What happened to ye?! Did you get the sword?!" Ichabod's head shook slightly.

"No…but I found out when he plans to attack with his army," Ichabod slowly explained to the old man as he tried to walk at the pace Lancaster was walking towards his horse, "I barely manage to get out in one piece."

"Save your breath until we get out of his accursed place," Lancaster scolded slightly at the young constable as he pushed him up on the horse and followed after him. With a quick kick to the side, the horse gave break to speed down the dirt pace and back to the Van Tassel Manor. As they rode, Lancaster didn't take note of the black marks that circled around Ichabod's wrist or the smirk that was on his face.

Meanwhile….

The Horseman smirked as he and Daredevil exited out of the tree, just as Lancaster and Ichabod were far enough from the tree.

"Foolish Jacob Lancaster," the Horseman grinned with a sinister pleasure on his face, "This will be your greatest fall here." The Horseman watched as Ichabod and Lancaster made their way out of his woods and recalled the events that led to the present

Flashback

The Horseman grinned as Ichabod was slowly waking up from the "awaking". His eyes opened, but they were not the gentle naïve brown but a dark sinister crimson of fire, almost like the Horseman's except his eyes were blue like ice. The constable then smirked up at the Horseman as if a secret joke was told between the two in silence as he sat up slowly from the bed.

"You awoken me, Master?" he asked calmly, his voice deadly quiet that would send shivers down a mortal's spine.

"Yes, Ignass, I have" the Horseman answered.

"Ignass? Is that my name?" he asked looking at the Horseman with uncertainty.

"It is the name of your true being," the Horseman replied, looking over the constable's features, now named Ignass. His form was almost the same when he was human but on closer inspections, one could see that it was much stronger. His face was also different, it didn't speak of uncertainty or disbelieve, it radiated a strong demonic strength, but one would describe all of this to the Horseman. Perfect.

"Very well what are my orders Master?" he asked again, ready to do whatever the Horseman wanted. The Horseman had many ideas for what he wanted his soon-to-be-soldier but there were small distractions that needed to be dealt with. Especially, a certain "old man" he knew that would try to ruin his plans that were so near ready to be launched.

"A simple execution is needed to be done," the Horseman explained, "You know of what will happen very soon right?"

"The invasion to the mortal realm? Yes I know of this," Ignass responded knowingly.

"Well my mortal enemy still lives and is expecting you to return with my sword in order to destroy the portal of our realm to the mortal realm, knowing him that is what he intends to do. I want you to kill him in anyway you can and to return back to me."

"But if he is your mortal enemy why not kill him yourself?" he questioned with demonic wonder in his eyes.

"Believe me it would give me pleasure just to see the life go out in his miserable eyes, but it would be sweeter to see his life gone by one he considers an ally" the Horseman said with a sinister smirk as if he was visioning the whole scene in play.

"Ally?" Ignass still questioned the Horseman.

"Yes now if he calls you Ichabod Crane or constable just go with it," the Horseman informed as he moved over to the constable and started to rip his clothes a bit. Ignass looked at this with a little confusion but didn't question the Horseman anymore. As the Horseman finished his work on ripping some of his clothes, he smirked up at him, "Now its time for you to meet an 'old friend' of yours."

End of Flashback

"Now, Lancaster, will you be able to stop me as a dead man? Heh, we shall see very soon." The Horseman said to himself before returning back to the darkness with Daredevil.
