Hehe... Here's a little something I whipped up for April Fools. I actually completely forgot about April Fools until today, so I decided to write something.

The sun was shining bright as Ion and Esther walked down the street. They didn't exactly have a destination, but they just wanted to take a walk to enjoy the nice Spring air. Spring has really sprung, thought Esther as she observed the cherry blossom trees and the soft breeze caressed her face. She looked over at Ion to see him enjoying the nice springtime as well.

"Uh… Esther," Ion said, looking over at Esther as they walked.

"Yes, Your Excellency?" she replied, still looking up into the trees.

"Well, I have some things to tell you…" she continued, looking down at his shoes.

Esther was curious now and looked over at him. "Things?" she asked, puzzled. I wonder… could it be? she thought to herself.

"Well, over the time we've been, uh, you know, working together, we've become quite good friends. Would you agree, Esther?"

"Yes, yes of course," she replied, but Esther wasn't really listening. She thought she knew what Ion was going to tell her, and a million thoughts were running through her mind.

"Well," Ion continued, looking slightly uncomfortable. "I've really enjoyed your company, Esther. You're the best friend I've ever had, and our friendship means a lot to me. I really love you—" Esther jumped at the word love "—as a friend, Esther, and you've really helped me to see that you Humans really aren't all bad."

"Yes," was all Esther could reply, so Ion continued with his little speech.

"I feel like my life has really changed with you around. I feel like a whole different person… A whole different happier person since you've been by my side. When you're around me I can't do anything bust smile."

"You, too, Your Excellency," Esther said, looking over and smiling at him. "I always feel happy with you around, too."

Ion nodded, then continued, "Well… there's just one other thing I need to tell you…"

"Yes?" Esther asked a little too fast, a little too excited.

Ion had stopped walking and turned to face Esther. They were looking into each other's eyes now.

"Well…" Ion said. "I…"

"Yes?"

"Love…"

"Oh, Ion, I do too!"

"Father Nightroad."

Esther: …

Ion: …

"Really?" Ion asked, cocking his head to one side.

"Well… no. I thought you were going to say…" Esther was the one looking uncomfortable now. She started to walk again, and even the beautiful spring day couldn't heal her bad mood.

"Wait, Esther, there's one more thing…" Ion said, grabbing her arm and pulling her back.

"What now?" Esther said, impatiently.

"April Fools."
