Silence

Silence;
I fill my silence with words
cheerful expressions
unending laughter
outpourings of happiness
that no one understands.
In my silence is fear, in my silence is craving
In my silence, desperation.

Silence;
I fill my silence with more silence
layer upon layer
deeper, deeper
until I am buried and
I become the silence
In my silence is stillness, in my silence is sadness
In my silence, hopelessness.

Silence;
I fill my silence with anger
cold like frozen steel
sharp and cutting
chilling to the bone
until I am dead
In my silence is rage, in my silence is self-loathing
In my silence, loneliness.

Silence;
I fill my silence with honor
words of justice
phrases of judgement
sitting blind on a throne
with a crown of swords upon my brow
In my silence is wrath, in my silence is mourning
In my silence, captivity.

Silence;
I fill my silence with smiles
kind words
caring touches
reaching out until
I have nothing more to give, but still I do
In my silence is sympathy, in my silence is innocence
In my silence, I alone speak.

Five of us stand in the silence
made brothers, lovers, friends by its soul destroying nothingness
one sees with eyes clear of the death surrounding us
one speaks, while four stand locked away
the silence would die forever
if only they could hear.
