Title: Silent Night
Drabble: #35
TK's prompt: Fly
Randomly selected pairing: Taikari
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: Am I the only one who thinks an FFN convention would be an amazing idea? Because it blatantly would be. And I still feel quite foul.
The light was off and it was night, and all should have been quiet apart from the soft breathing of the two drowsy people in the room. Closed windows blocked out the night time sounds of chirping insects and the room was filled with a comfortable warmth. The younger of the inhabitants shifted with restlessness, the rustle of sheets seeming to echo and fill the room as well as a quiet, content sigh when her head found a cold spot on the pillow. Almost-silence then reigned once more until, only a few moments later, she sat up and grasped for the light switch.
If it were any other noise, Hikari would have been able to tolerate it; but she could not stand the buzzing of a fly while she was trying to sleep.
Taichi, who had dozed off without a problem, was stirred from his sleep when his partner moved so suddenly, and glanced confusedly around the dark room with sleepy eyes. What on earth was she doing?
He opened his mouth intending to ask, instead spouting a string of meaningless nonsense. Having just woken up, forming proper words was a very difficult thing to do. He shielded his eyes and groaned when the room was illuminated, and was fortunately saved from speaking when Hikari began to explain herself. He was lucky that she could almost read his mind.
She told him about the fly and he couldn't help but groan again. Another fly? Flies were what had woken her up three times already in the past week. He struggled to find his voice and make it coherent, but when he did he responded by telling her to just swat the stupid fly and come back to bed.
But, she argued back with just as much annoyance, she couldn't do that. That would be mean. What she wanted to do was catch the fly, and let it go outside. That way, it wouldn't come to any harm. First, though, she had to find it.
Taichi closed his eyes and buried his head under his pillow. It was going to be a long night.
