I don't own anything Death Note, but dang I wish I did…
Human After All…
Only Chapter
As he lay alone, bleeding and dying silently on the cement stairs inside the dark building he had fled to in his attempt to get away from his fate; many thoughts were creeping into his head and planting themselves firmly in front of his mind's eye.
He began to think of how he had come to find the Death Note: It had been so innocent looking, lying on the ground in front of his school window, but it was actually a wolf in sheep's clothing, if you could say that about a note book that is.
He then thought of how he had come to the idea of being a god on Earth which was now leading him to his own demise.
He had put so many people to death, he had shown them the will of God, of him. It just didn't seem right for him to die like this, in this abandon building, bullets in his shivering, damaged body. He had expected, when he died, to have gone in a divine fashion; then again he always knew in the back of his mind that he would be his own doom, some way or another.
But then he started to wonder of how it had all turned out this way with him, dying on a staircase all-alone. How could he have done something wrong, a slip up in his plans possibly?
His plan was perfect! They were always perfect!
Maybe it wasn't his fault?
It was definitely Misa's fault for not coming to rescue him when he needed her the most… oh wait, she had no idea he was Kira anymore, thanks to himself… damn.
Well what about his father? His father would always defend him no matter what… wait a minute, he died years ago, thanks to himself again… damn it all.
That wasn't a problem though since he always had Mikami. That man would jump off a cliff whilst setting himself aflame and drinking an afternoon tea if he asked him to… ah crap, hes dead too!
What in the world had he done? What had he been thinking?
It had been such a small mistake, though it had put such a significant impact on his life…
He lay there again, sulking and shivering in pain, his eyesight getting dimmer and his heart slowing down rapidly.
Then suddenly he lifted his tired eyelids; he felt a presence in the room, who was it?
Standing there in the flesh in front of his very eyes was his fallen rival, L!
Ryuuzaki? It didn't seem possible; he was dead wasn't he? Had he screwed up on that one too?
How could he not know this? Had he missed something? Why didn't he know? He was as good as a god, he must know why!
Why what?
He couldn't think anymore, so he simply closed his eyes and let eternal blackness claim him forever.
He was only human after all…
End
Well you couldn't win 'em all, Light, that's for sure…
