A/N: I do not usually ship Jack and Ianto. I prefer Jack and Gwen. However I wrote this to my friend (Immortalitybites) and she asked me to post it and so I am. You should really read her stuff if you are into them as a couple. Thanks for reading!

According to the Oxford Dictionary, a stopwatch is a"watch with a mechanism for recording elapsed time, used to time races, etc". According to Ianto, there are"lots ofthings you can do with a stopwatch." And finally, according to Owen, "give Ianto a stopwatch and he's happy".

But... what to do with this information? Well, I can tell you whatJack does.

Jack eyes Ianto, trying to distinguish if the Welshman is simply taunting him or if he truly does want to test that precious stopwatch of his. To his gleeful surprise, Ianto whips the little device from his pocket and moves his thumb over the button."You're time begins... now." He says as his thumb comes down onto the button and the watch starts its duty. With that, Iantoleaves the office. Of course, Jackneeds a moment for recovery before he follows; how could the poor man not?

It takes Jack fifteen seconds to persuade Owen and Gwen to take the rest of the night off. (He wasn't really expecting them to put up a fuss after all.) Then came Tosh, who he is sure will have some resistance because of her dedication to the new program she is designing. To his amazement though, one minute andthreeseconds later she is putting on her overcoat. (Doing well so far.)

After a few more sprints around the hub turning off the essentials, Jack starts to make his way up the stairs to his personal quarters where he hopes Ianto will be waiting. Breathing heavily, Jack waits a beat before throwing open the door and walking confidently inside. As he had imagined, Ianto is lounging comfortably on the oversized sofa. His tie is loosened a bit and his coat is draped over the back ofa matching chair.

Ianto's thumb comes down onto the button again and smiles. "I'm impressed, sir." The way his mouth forms "sir" and his accent drives the winded man crazy. Jack shuts his door quickly (in case anyone decides to return that night for some odd reason).

"So... you were saying... there are many things you can do with a stopwatch?"

"Oh yes, sir."

Jack's throat emits a manly mix between a groan and a growl. "Care to elaborate?"

"Well... one can time races, see how long it takes said one to finish a task." Jack's eye twinkles a bit in amusement. "And with that done... one can try to... improveone's time, reach the point at a faster rate possibly."

"Mm-hmm."

"But sir you look a little heated and tired. Maybe now isn't the best time for a little... competition?"

"Oh no you don't!"

As for the rest you can time yourself to see how long it takes you to figure out what comes next. Or better yet, whom.
