You Loved Her
The first time you saw her, you knew she was someone you could fall in love with. She didn't see it that way. She felt love for you as a friend who understood her. But she didn't love you that way.
On the train to Hogwarts, she ignored the other boys' teasing, even though it involved you.
When you went to school, she ended up in a House opposite you. You knew she had all the qualities for Slytherin but the Sorting Hat had other ideas. She was placed in Gryffindor, where she met others like her.
When she met the boys from the train she ignored them, making you feel good. But you were suspicious.
Every year after, she would try to talk you into stopping calling others the one word you swore years ago never to use.
Finally, you went too far. You lost your cool and called her a Mudblood, making her feel like a pain had slashed through her heart.
She didn't listen to your apology and stopped talking to you. She hurt you, but you hurt her first.
When she started going out with your sworn enemy, you couldn't stand to look at her. When she graduated and then married him, you died a little more.
When you realized that the Dark Lord had been planning on killing her son, you also realized you would do anything to keep her safe, even if it meant dying yourself, because you had already died.
When you turned up at the wreck of her house, you burst into a rage and wanted to avenge her death. Your old Headmaster had other ideas.
He suggested that you help keep an eye on her only son because he was what would save the whole wizarding community.
It hurt you to think that her son was all that mattered to him and not the boy's mother herself.
When her son came, you felt resentment that he was the only one left of his family. As he glanced at you, you sent hostility his way, making him wince in pain. Or maybe it was the stuttering fool sitting next to you.
Every year, you would watch as the boy was faced with more trust, but you were still left in the dark. Every month or so in the boy's sixth year you had a chat with your Headmaster; you finally found out that the boy was expected to die.
When you killed your Headmaster in the last month of school, her son called you a coward, and made you feel anger and sadness that you hadn't tried more to keep his parents alive.
When the Headmaster's portrait told you what he expected you to do, you knew exactly what you would do.
You used your Patronus to get him to follow you, and made sure he knew what to grab.
When it was grabbed however, it was not by him but by his friend. It worked though.
When you confronted your old master during the last battle, you still pretended to be his man. But he shocked you; he went after you with his snake. When he left, you felt another presence in the room; the same mind waves that you hit when you used Occlumency.
As you lay there, you looked up into startling green eyes; her eyes. You summoned up the last dregs of your strength, because you knew you were dead. It didn't bother you because you knew you would see her again.
"Look… at… me…" you said, finally feeling free. You knew he would understand why you did all you had.
