Trevor was in bad shape. As was I. But he was definitely worse. A man, who had come to me, to conquer, to defeat, to only be put in his place had to be embarassing. For the first time in a long time I saw him for what he was, as a child like I had been. I saw so much of myself in him as he sat there crying, weak, and being unable to commit to what he had started. I almost felt...pity.
My neck felt tight and raw from the rope being tied around my neck. We had been on path for a few hours now, maybe even a whole night. I saw the pale oranges and pinks starting to arise from the mountains. The black of the night began to pale. Lucy was asleep on the back of the horses end behind me. My eyes felt tight and raw from lack of sleep.
Trevor stopped in a small ravine to make camp. It felt like we had been traveling for days. I had begged and cried and tried every provacative move I possibly could to get out of this.
"Remember the old days?" Trevor asked me quitely as I sat with my arms tied behind my back next to a campfire he had made. Lucy was still dead asleep and wrapped up in goat fur by the fire snoring softly.
"I'd rather forget. Feed me some of that jerky?" I could hear the charred beef crackling on the fire, the smell was insatiable.
"You abanonded me." Trevor said pushing a piece of jerky into my mouth. It was hot but delicous and I gobbled it in one piece.
"I had a family." I chewed slowly. I hadn't had anything so good in days. We'd been living off of dried gourds and boklobin meat. It was awfully chewy and gamey, but the gristel felt amazing to crunch on and the fat was decadent.
"As did I." he scowled.
I sat there and stared at Lucy in the corner. She was sleeping so nicely. Her chest rose up and down so innocently.
"You'll never know untll it matters. We never had a family Trevor." I spit into the fire thinking about all the life I had robbed of me. Trevor scowled and contiued to look into the flames, a disturbed look in his eyes.
"My family is dead." he chewed on his tobacco and then spit into the fire without moving his eyes. For a second I almost felt bad. "I do know."
"Then let me go." I pleaded. "I have a family. You know if we get back he's going to kill her or ruin her life like he did ours!" I was almost out of breath. "Come with us. We can just pretend this never happend. You can help me stop this."
Trevor just sat their motionless. He looked a lot older than when I had met him. His once shoulder length lucious brown hair was now limp and hung about his shoulders like a dirty rag. HIs eyes were sunken like two gleamless marbles in a socket. Am I using too many analogies? Maybe. But Trevor just looks bad and he's not having a good time mkay?
"I can't go with you." he was cold, body riggied and face as tense.
"Think about it." I whisperd.
"No!" he yelled. Throwing a skin of water he had into the fire. It made a popping hissing noise as the water evaportated into the tepid night air. "We've got orders and you're going tomorrow. Do you know how important it was for you to do this mission? I had to watch as you took this over while I sat at home and had to watch from the sidelines. I've been here longer. I should have been asked before you!" Trevor grabbed another pig skin skin from his pocket and it slammed back before throwing it into the fire. It hissed and cracked, I had a feeling it wasn't water this time. He glared and took another spit at the fire.
I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh are you still salty over that? I'm so sorry that you were 10 when you were taken and I was 8. I thought we were still on the same team that kidnapping underage children was wrong. If you can forgive your parents for selling you for grain than so be it, but I wont. Give me more of whatever you threw in that pig skin." I threw a pebble laying next to my palm at Trevor's cheek. It hit him right under the left nostril.
Trevor scoffed but began to dig into his bag anyway. He pulled out an old leathery bag that looked like it was about 50 years old. I grabbed it eagerly, ripped the top off and drank heavily. Within a few minutes I could feel the effects coursing through my veins. I was relxaed, albiet a little bit more ornery, but I was at least tolerable now.
"I knew you had more." I sighed, staring at the fire, wishing I had some meat to toast at the end of stick. My stomach was grumbling. Trevor hadn't fed us in at least a day and a half. All we had to live off was water and deep roots to keep our spirts high. The roots made me hallucionate and feel not connected to the world I was living.
"I bet you know a lot cowgirl." Trevor sighed. I felt like he was getting drunk, which was surprising because I barely had any. He sat slumped down by the fire. His boots were off, his sword was bundled up in his knapsack behind his back, he was using it to lean up against a log.
"Oh I've learned a lot." I preened as I scooted towards Trevor. His body swayed and his eyes rocked back and forth as he watched me come towards. His eyes looked like a pendulum swing darting back and forth between my eye contact. His breath reeked of cheap Hyrulian swig and old meat.
I jumped on top of his lap. My arms were still tied behind my back as I pressed my chest into his.
"Let me go." I breathed lightly as I watched his eyes slightly open and then forcibly close. He was hardly awake. This was perfect.
"I cant..." he mumbled as he was already throwing his arms behing my back and trying to unleash the knots behind them. His breath felt hot against my neck and upper torso but I had to remember that I was here to manipulate and not to have fun.
"Untie me and we'll have fun." I breathily mutter.
I feel him under me as he gets a grip on my wrists and torso. He pulls my waist closer into his...
