Doubting Angels
Doubting
Angels
I've been doubting angels lately
Not trusting mirrors, too
When I peer into them, I see me
Do you see me, too?
You want me to love you
Silently begging me to
And sometimes
I think I do
You gave me your heart
And stole mine,
Giving a replacement
Twice as fine
But your love
Was wrapped in black despair
And tied off
With an operatic flair
With a trembling heart
I took your love
And turned away
Went back above
To light-
Simply clear and blindingly bright
Your dark-
Complicated fear and blind night
You say you love me
And I know you do
But I've been doubting angels lately
Not trusting mirrors, too
