Disclaimer: I don't own any character in this story.

Author Notes: Well, this is basically written for my friend. This is my first chipmunk story so I hope it's alright. This is more movie based than cartoon based.

Nightmares

Dave Seville sometimes couldn't believe how much he had come to love the three small chipmunks in his care. It was the small things that would often tug his lips up into a smile. Things like, the boys watching Spongebob Squarepants every morning, or how much the boys really seemed to love to sing. After a while, things just became routine, and certain things came naturally. Dave always kept plenty of toaster waffles in the house for the boys.

Something's had to be handled as they happened however, Nightmares seemed to take the most thought and effort on Dave's part.

Theodore had made a tendency of coming into Dave's room when he had nightmares. One night when Dave was checking on them, he found Theodore thrashing in his sleep, in the throes of a nightmare. Dave had rubbed his small back, and as he predicted the smallest chipmunk calmed down and fell back into a peaceful slumber. With Theodore it appeared all he really needed was a soothing touch.

Alvin however, was not calmed by a soothing touch. Alvin would twist away from touch and mumbled in his sleep. A song, was what it took with Dave's most rambunctious. Whatever song Alvin happened to be into at the time, was what worked best. Dave would start with humming. Sometimes that was all it really took to calm Alvin down, but Alvin's nightmares seemed to much longer to scare away than Theodore's.

Simon had proven to be the most difficult to solve however. Trying to rub Simon's back caused the tallest chipmunk to pull away, and songs caused him to become more agitated. What worked with the other two boys only seemed to agitate Simon further. Dave was at a loss on what to do, and finally just scooped Simon up and let him rest on his chest. Dave could never be quite sure what it was that calmed Simon down. The beating of his heart or maybe his steady breathing, but Simon settled into a more peaceful sleep.

They were Dave's boys and even if they sometimes drove him crazy, they were still his boys, and he wouldn't trade a moment with them for anything in the world.

Author Notes 2.0-Ok that's it. My little one shot on and idea that someone threw into my head. I wouldn't mind a review or two if you liked it.
