Disclaimer: Kingdom Hearts doesn't belong to me. I think we all know that by now, right…?

Author's Note: This is just my attempt at filling that empty void I noticed while browsing through the fics here. (I know, I still have another chapter of 13 Nights to finish – I promise I'm trying to get through that as soon as possible. My muse just isn't cooperating)

Some Day

They said that his father was banished.

Banishment. The very word was hard to imagine for PJ. How had this happened in the first place? He didn't know. All he did remember was that it had become this way slowly, gradually. It hadn't happened overnight.

He remembered those conversations in the courtyard. A weird lady talking to his father. It seemed almost like a dream now; it seemed as if it had never happened. Yet, he knew it happened.

His father began playing with things that he shouldn't have. First it was just the candles that went out whenever his father walked past.

"Why are my candles going out, Daddy," His kid sister would ask. Of course she would ask - she had just gone through a phase where she was obsessed with lighting candles. (She claimed it looked pretty to see the candles in their full glory at night)

His father would turn back to the snuffed candles; he would blink with honest surprise. "I... don't know, Princess."

He wanted to say that had been the last time. He knew, however, it wasn't the last time. His experimenting kept going on.

And on.

And on.

He remembered wondering if it would ever stop. But it never did. They just kept becoming larger than before. First, it was just the snuffed candles.

Then his father began to give his sister weird toys – there was just no other word to describe them. They resembled small, black... things. He couldn't describe them; he just remembered feeling very awkward and out of place around them.

"They're Heartless," His father called with an odd pride.

He just remembered looking at them and being afraid.

Afraid? Yes, that was one way to put it. Yet, as he turned these memories over, he realized that they had been warnings. Warnings that his father had been dabbling in things that he couldn't control.

Didn't he realize that these experiments would lead to his banishment?

Surely his father realized. He had to!

… He had a sinking feeling that his father never did.

So, his father – Dad- was now banished. The court of Disney Castle said it was because he was toying with darkness - he had been working with Maleficent. He had been learning to control Heartless?

And for what?

The court had left him and his family alone after that. They'd come back, he knew, to tell them the exact details. They would tell his family what they needed to do to survive without their father.

He... was banished. How weird was that? His father wasn't even allowed to be in the same world.

He couldn't brush back the tears anymore. He sighed, sinking to the ground. His father was banished. And it seemed that there was nothing he could do.

"PJ?"

He looked up at the anthropomorphic teen in front of him. "M-Max..? What are you doing here?"

Max smiled, extending his hand. "Dad and I came to give you guys a helping hand."

He stared at the hand, taking a hard and good look at it. "You... and Goofy?"

"Uh-huh," Max smiled even wider. "I'm your best friend, Peej. Moments like these are what we're for, right?"

He knew what he had to do. Blinking back tears, he stood. Taking Max's hand, he managed an extremely weak smile.

"Yeah," He said weakly. "Thanks, Max."

Max grinned. "No problem."

Their footsteps echoing across the castle grounds, PJ promised himself one thing. No matter what happened, he would always have friends who remembered and cared for him. He mustn't forget - or abuse - it. Ever.

So his father was banished. He realized that. Someday, though, his father would come back. And some day, everything in the world would be all right again.
