Morning Thoughts

At first light, Zuko woke up. He slowly got up, and took in his new surroundings. It was not the luxurious room he often slept in, but much rather it was a shabby old dormitory room. Although it was dusty, smelly, and a little shabby, he had to admit it was nice. It reminded him of the apartment that he and his uncle shared in Ba Sing Se's lower ring.

After taking the time reminiscing, and gathering himself together, he put on his outer robe, and went for the courtyard of the temple. He decided to walk quietly so as not to wake up anyone. While on his way he thought about what had happened the past two days. He had tried to offer his services to the Avatar on his journey to defeat his father, even to teach him firebending. Unfortunately, he was turned down. Later on he accidentally burned the feet of his eartbending teacher. And to make matters worse he tried, but failed miserably to stop the assassin that he had sent on them when he got back home. In the end however, he was accepted into the group. Reluctantly, but accepted nonetheless. Talk about the most exciting two days of my life, he thought.

He thought of all those events, but there was one event still fresh in his mind, the waterbender. She warned him not to betray them, and threatened to kill him if he did. He realized why she would threaten him. She trusted him in Ba Sing Se, and he betrayed that trust by siding with Azula. In addition to that, Azula shot the Avatar down with lightning. She had every reason to hate him, and every reason to kill him. Upon thinking about it, he realized that he had never been more afraid in his life. She was a powerful bender, and fighting an angry waterbender was not how he wanted to die.

He finally got to the courtyard, and looked around. No one was awake; he was alone and it was quiet. He sat down, and began to meditate. Have I really changed? Am I really different? he thought. After a moment he shook his head. No! I have changed. I am different. I'm not that person anymore., he reminded himself. He then got up and looked at the landscape. It was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen, and it cheered him up. It gave him a little hope on the situation.

I'll show them. I'll show them that I have changed. And I'll prove to them…to her… that I can be trusted.

So there it is my first fan fiction I hope that you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading.
