"Are you listening to me, darling?" she said quietly to the man sitting next to her. Silence was becoming a staple in their relationship. She hated the silence.

He nodded.

She hated it.

He didn't look up at her when she stood to leave the room.

She hated the silence.

It was almost as if Jean was alive again, and he was still in that haze that he was always in when she was in the room. Jean was dead. She was alone. He was alone. Why wouldn't he talk to her? Why wouldn't he look at her? Why the silence?

Rogue hated the silence.

He wouldn't call her Marie.
