Author's Notes: For no apparent reason other than it fit the plot, Tak is briefly back on Earth at some point. I don't get it, either. But one continuity error isn't too much to ask you to bear with, is it? Keef is my favorite character, so I hope he's IC. Please review and tell me if he isn't. All criticism is welcomed. Thank you for reading.

I am not Jhonen Vasquez nor am I Nickolodeon, or else I'd be too busy to do this. I own nothing.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I never knew anyone so pretty.

She was sitting in this crater. Which is weird, but I didn't care because she looked sad. I couldn't just let her sit there and be sad. Maybe if I said something to help her out, we could be friends! She didn't look mean or anything. She looked kind of pretty. The misplaced kind of pretty.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

She hadn't heard me approach, and looked at me with blank, violet colored eyes. "What?"

"Are you okay? I mean, you look all lonely and stuff. My name's Keef, what's yours?" I held out a hand to help her up.

"Tak," she replied softly, not a single dark blue hair out of place on her head when she next stood. Funny, I could've sworn she wasn't this pretty a minute ago. Maybe she's magic! "My name is Tak. It's nice to meet you, Keef. Perhaps we can go somewhere and do something?"

I didn't even notice how she kept trying to block my view of the crater. I mean, I noticed, but it was okay. Craters aren't a big deal. Not when I have a friend, and in that moment I had a friend! I had a new friend with pretty hair named Tak who wanted to do stuff!

We spent a great evening together. Tak was cool, and smart, and decisive, and her smile made my day. But most of all she was really beautiful. All the boys at the circus and the arcade stared at us. I felt like I was the coolest guy alive. My pretty friend and I were on fire! We were on top of the world! Tak kept me close all the time and kept looking me in the eyes.

And this is the best part! I swear, there were SPARKLES in her eyes! I was in love.

But what if she just left me like Zim? I didn't want to lose another friend. Friends are what makes this life so great. Friends are always there for you. If I let her go home she might not come back. Everybody leaves me, you know. My mom, my dad, my older sister, Zim, Torque... Everybody. They'd all left me long ago for no reason. Well, I wouldn't let myself hate Tak like that! Not someone that pretty, no. I wasn't going to let her turn ugly in my head.

"Well, Keef, thank you for the free food and the money and the games," Tak said, smiling to herself. Her eyes were so vivid and pretty. "But now I need to get going. Past curfew, you know."

"Oh, I understand," were my last words to her.

I don't really remember what happened next, doctor. It's all kind of hazy and twisted in my head. I remember touching her hair and I remember coming home and I remember being brought to the Crazy House for Boys. It all happened what, a day ago?

Oh, a year ago, you say? Okay, whatever.

I still don't remember killing her. I'd never do that, I don't care what the police say. I didn't want to hurt anyone.

I just wanted her to stay pretty.
