Sibling Rivalry

Sibling rivalry was one thing, sibling flirting was another. For weeks now, he had put up with their constant bickering over the most stupid things: what restaurant they should order take out from, what color to repaint his room, whether or not he should teach her how to ride his motorcycle. No matter what topic of conversation was brought about, they had to argue about it.

Contests had quickly become big between them as well: who could run from Isabelle's room to the kitchen the quickest, who Max idolized more, who could piss off more Downworlders. It was getting to the point of ridiculousness.

At first, Simon found this all insanely amusing. He would secretly smirk and laugh when Clary won, mentally keeping tally of their scores. So far, Jace was winning twenty seven to twenty three. He wasn't bothered though, he knew Clary would catch up soon enough. Innocence ran wild in their aggressive personalities, but so did passion. Now that bothered him.

When he saw Jace brush his hand across her cheek, it wasn't in a brotherly way. When Clary bore her eyes into his back, it wasn't in an angry way. When they shouted at each other, they always finished the fight with soothing whispers in each others ear or resorted to playful sarcasm. He expected this sort of behavior from Jace, but most certainly not from Clary.

Sibling rivalry was one thing, sibling flirting was a whole other league of annoyance.
