"What are your thoughts on this?" His voice breaks the silence of the study, the end of his brush pen resting listlessly on his bottom lip as he raises the bit of parchment up for her to see.

She glances up quickly, (uselessly), before returning to the important task of picking idly at her fingernails.

"Looks good," She admits, and she can feel the satisfied grin form on his features, so she pauses and points at him seriously, "But do you think that support structure will hold?"

"Will it hold?!" He repeats incredulously, the grin slides off his face and he holds his plans inches from his nose while he re-examines, "Of course it will hold! See here," He points on the paper, "I reinforced the main beam and the secondary-- oooh..."

He pauses shrewdly. Staring at her and pointing his brush pen in her general direction. She continues to pick at her nails musing that she was so close to beating her record for the amount of time he forgets she's--

"I see what you're saying! This is good, I must admit, but if we just take the main support," He traces the paper with his fingers, "That's what you were referring to right? Of course it is!" He hastily grabs another sheet of parchment and uncorks the ink bottle going to work drawing new plans, "If we thicken this here, we can add more weight there..."

His excited mumbling dies down to unintelligible murmurs mixing with the faint scratching of the brush on paper.

"Perfect!" He finally exclaims, brandishing the new set of plans triumphantly, "Couldn't have done it without you Toph," He stands and claps her on the shoulder.

"I try," She shrugs and picks a bit of dirt from under her thumb before standing. "Let's go I'm starving,"

Sokka nods his agreement, rolling up the parchment and slinging an arm casually over her shoulder as he continues discussing his plans for his newest invention.

He still hasn't noticed, and she doesn't suppose he will.

She grins and congratulates herself on another record she's broken.
