Fantasies
By Cory
They had never even kissed.
But, really, that didn't matter anymore. Because he was gone, and she was the old lady who rented out an apartment that always had the distinct odor of drenched dog and ham-and-cabbage stew.
It didn't matter in another sense as well; Kitty knew just how he would have done it. She had, when they were both still alive, imagined him doing it a different way. Her hormone-crazed mind would have flipped through different tongue-lapping, open-mouthed, fiery and passionate fantasies that would have only been found in the mind of a teenage girl.
He would have been so hesitant about it, then. He would have rocked there, on the balls of his feet as he prattled on about something insubstantial. Then he would have closed his mouth with a snap. He would have allowed himself to hesitate a moment more, his hands clenching and unclenching.
She would have waited. Like the taut horsehair in a violin's bow, ready to spring at the smallest movement, she would have waited.
He would have half-lunged forward then, mashing his mouth to hers. It would have been all wrong—too toothy, too wet, too rusty and inexperienced. He would have not touched her otherwise, just his mouth against hers.
And she would have let him.
Both of them would have stood there, unwilling to part, yet unsure of how to proceed. After several gauche moments, he would have opened his mouth shyly against hers, allowing their breaths to mingle. She would have stiffened and shivered, finally catching on. He would have placed his somewhat sweaty palms against her spine as one of her hands raised to grip a bunch of his shirt covering his shoulder blade and upper arm in one hand. Mouths would have brushed and devoured, slowly and jerkily accumulating knowledge of kissing: what the other liked, how to do this, how to breathe now….
They had never even kissed. But she could dream.
