Hey guys, important little thing before I fork over the fic. I'm gonna sound like some kinda backseat moderator or a pain in the rear to a lot of you, but listen and it could save us all some drama later.

Guys, I know our little fandom has one heck of a connection to music. It's something I love about the movie. But I feel the need to remind people that the site guidelines state that we are not supposed to use song lyrics in our fan fiction unless and song is in public domain. There is no exception to this, even if you put a disclaimer or if the song was important to the movie. So, we shouldn't be using lyrics from It Only Takes a Moment and Put On Your Sunday Clothes (etc etc) in our fan fiction here. If we do, the moderators have every right to remove our fics when they find them.

Am I saying this is a good rule? No. However, like the rule or not, it was a rule set by the maintainers of the website. They are in authority over us when we write her, and are kind enough to let us write as much fan fiction here as we want, free of charge even, as long as we follow the few rules they have set for us. That was, our fics don't get removed, and as the administrator of a forum, I can say without a doubt that mods appreciate when we listen to them. So, for everybody's sake, I feel that we should respect their authority and those rules. There's my two cents. It's out there. I'm not holding a gun to anybody's head, but there's my thoughts on the situation. I plan to obey this rule and if I write a fic that can't go without the music, I'll simply post it the other fic communities I'm on that allow this and not here. If anybody else is interested in the same strategy, I recommend Livejournal's WALL-E Fanfiction community and DeviantART.

So anyways, enough ranting. It's boring. Fics are way better.

I don't own WALL-E. Pixar does.

How was this working?

He watched her soar across the night sky without a care in the world, and he couldn't believe she credited him for that feeling. She was so beautiful when she flew. She was always beautiful to him, but when she danced in the sky it was even more incredible than the norm. He could only stare up at her, eyes trying to decide between being wide with amazement or half closed in a infatuated daze, so how was this working? How were they working? For a long time he had felt a special bond between them, and he had almost gotten himself killed just to get her to see it, but now that he had accomplished his goal he felt so unworthy of it all.

Sometimes, she would come down and pull him up, and they'd both soar in the night sky across that moon. He couldn't help but wish that they were doing their acrobatics in space again. Back there, it has a symmetrical dance. Back there, they both lead and it somehow worked.

Back there, he could pretend for a moment that he could be up to her level.

How he wished he could fly.
