Disclaimer : Card Captor Sakura belongs to CLAMP. I don't own CCS.

Author's Notes: New project. If you've read my previous ET fic entitled 'Oh, Ladies and Gentlemen', please note that this one will not be as light as it was. I'm in the mood for something dark and bitter and this fiction comes as the result. I'm not sure that people will like this fiction, but I myself like it and… I hope you can enjoy it!!

Summary: "If you hate your life that much, why don't you just give it for free to me instead?"

He will erase all her memories; he will erase all her existence. And he would take the price.

Mnemosyne's Labyrinth

It begins with an end. –

The news had shocked everyone greatly.

No one had ever expected it could happen. At least, not this soon.

Never this soon.

Her time had come too fast.

Daidouji Tomoyo watched from afar at the endlessly mourning Li Syaoran.

"W-why…? S-she can't be…she can't be…" he muttered through gritted teeth and cascading tears –his voice broken from the amount of grief he expressed.

Hidden amethyst watched in unreadable gaze at Li Sakura. Her honey colored hair was neatly brushed and she wore the pretty, white dress. Her expression was serene, and if some examined close enough, they would see that her lips were tugged down a little to form a small smile.

Angelic Sakura-chan…

Always looked so heavenly…

Even in her death.

Chapter 1

: Poor, Daidouji-san…:

The others had originally thought he needed more time to gain back his peace of mind.

But 3 months after the death of Sakura, Syaoran was finally able to be back to his normal routine. The sadness was still visible, but it had somehow altered into an honest acceptance –one that showed how truthful the love he had for his deceased wife. Syaoran was moving on with his life, although of course, the man still held the upmost, sincere love to Sakura.

He was struggling for happiness –for the sake of Sakura herself.

"She won't rest in peace in heaven if she still worries about her biggest worry –YOU," was the statement that Tomoyo spoke that succeeded in gradually changing his way of seeing things.

Even, anyone would say, that Daidouji Tomoyo was the hero for it.

No one would have been able to move on post the traumatizing death of Sakura if it hadn't been for the Nightingale's constant patience, cares, wisdom, and maturity.

The woman who had lost her mother to cancer and her best friend not so long after, was able to stand up and see the world in a mature and accepting way.

Everyone had thought that they didn't have the rights to waste themselves over. Look at the Daidouji heiress –she was the one who suffered the most, and yet she was the one who gave the full support to everyone until they could move on with their lives.

Really, it was all thanks to Daidouji-san.

Admiration grew without effort.

Such a beautiful girl. One that was strong and mature too.

"You must live, for Sakura,"

"Fight. Living is the greatest battle itself,"

"Don't worry. She will never leave us. As long as we still remember them, they will always live in our hearts,"

Such continuous, tireless supports and loves.

The strength of the Daidouji was what waking up Tomoeda from its depressed state.

So yes, she was the hero.

Strong, mature, and wise…

…Or was she really?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The one with the captivating beauty.

The one with the sincere charm.

The one with the wise strength.

The one… with the false façade.

She was, after all, the Daidouji Tomoyo.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Daidouji-san was a patient and smart woman. Calculating scenarios and actions had been her routine ever since she was still a little girl. Thus, she had thought it all well. Planned it all as the true Mastermind, she had decided since the day Sakura Li left this world, that she would help other people to stand, she would help them recover. Because she was the only one who could do it. It was her job, her obligation. And responsibility had always been one of her virtue, so she would strengthen the others until they were able to stand on their own.

And she executed her first plan well.

3 months after the death of Li Sakura (or 4 months after the death of Daidouji Sonomi), people of Tomoeda began to play on their previously paused life.

They began to recover.

She succeeded.

So now, time to move to her 2nd plan.

It was time for her to step off the stage.

Early morning by the sea had lately been her most favorite time of the day. It was time when the blue sky was still in its dark hues, with cool November breeze, and with the waves that hit upon the golden sand with rhythmic force. With the salty yet unique smell of the sea and the serenity a private beach could provide, she was really enjoying the sight.

Beautiful.

Life was beautiful after all.

With beautiful people and beautiful emotion.

With Love…

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Love turns to Memory.

Memory turns to Soul

Soul turns to Life.

And Life?

Life turns to Death.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Tomoyo took her steps forward in poised and calm tempo.

Her knitted turtle-neck dress and her raven hair were played by the teasing wind.

Her bare feet scratched upon the hard and rough surfaces of the cliff. She could feel the coldness too.

The sea that was still calm a while ago had wavered quite greatly –perhaps due to anger.

Nature's anger.

World was about to lose one of its rare angel.

And yet the angel…

She breathed normally, free of any doubts.

Just a step.

And another step.

Then another.

And then she would soon join her mother and her best friend.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"If you hate your life that much, why don't you just give it for free to me instead?" a deep voice said just when she was about to put her first step to the empty air.

Tomoyo was startled back. Her last step halted, she balanced herself at the edge of the cliff before quickly pivoted herself around.

Who was that? What was that voice? She had made sure that there was no one in this private beach of hers. There should be no one there…

No one should have interrupted her attempt of suicide…

She cautiously walked a couple steps away from the edge of the cliff, her violet eyes scanned for any disturbance.

Any misfits…

Anything…

There was nothing.

Exhaling an annoyed sigh, Tomoyo turned her body around again and –

"You were looking for me, Daidouji-san?"

Her breath caught in her throat as she gazed slightly up to see a pair of deep sapphire eyes that belonged to a man who held a certain aura of exquisite aristocracy. His skin was pale –just as pale as her own –, but still flawless. A tug of polite smirk on his perfectly-sculptured lips made him a little devilish and his eyes looked deeply at her (undressing her) until she could feel the slightest intention to cover back from such knowing gazes.

And yet, still…

Such a beauty.

And perhaps it was his intimidating presence that could make even the Daidouji heiress took an unconscious step back.

"Watch your step," he said as holding her hand, balancing her so that her slim body would not fall back from the high cliff.

The contact ended his charm on her. Straightening herself in the usual Daidouji composure, Tomoyo lifted her gazes to calmly challenge him back –to uncover the mystery beyond those blue orbs.

"Hiiragizawa-san,"

She greeted.

A recognition.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It wasn't that she often saw him. That ex classmate of her had chosen to stay in London with his guardians and his lover –his visit to Tomoeda were limited to some special occasion. He had come to Sakura and Syaoran's wedding the year before, and he certainly had been present for the burial of both Sonomi and Sakura. Even so, Tomoyo had never paid close attention to the dark haired reincarnation.

And despite her honest admiration seconds prior, her icy heart wouldn't let any form of disturbance to her supposedly perfect plan.

"Is there anything urgent you wish to say?" she asked with polite yet monotonous voice. And she continued, without even giving him times to reply. "If not, Hiiragizawa-san, then please excuse me to –"

Apparently, Hiiragizawa Eriol was as stubborn as her in getting his point heard. "Before you plan anything to get away from me, wouldn't you want to know what kind of offering I have for you?"

Her violet eyes stared uninterestedly at the tall man. "Offering?"

His sapphire ones glinted almost maniacally. "Yes. An offering,"

"What offering?" she asked without any hints of curiosity.

"Better than trying to kill yourself –"

"You're imagining things, Hiiragizawa-san. I never tried to kill myself," her violet eyes suddenly lit up and her smile was so cheerful that it almost fooled him. Almost.

His smile was equally as warm, equally as untruthful. "Such a weak, disappointing retort. I saw you; your actions couldn't fool my eyes. It's quite obvious too anyway,"

She was silenced.

Bugging.

Such a bugging, annoying man.

His clear eyes were never averted from her figure, waiting in anticipating amusement of what would this woman do.

"Alright," Tomoyo finally spoke. "What is the offering?"

"Let me correct myself, it is actually a trade. A mutualism trade, of course," Eriol said as trying to notice the slightest change of expression he could find on the beautiful face. None. Clearing his throat, he then said, "I know that the death of your mother and Sakura are both traumatizing events. Among all people, you are actually the one who's hurt the most. You –"

"I don't remember letting you read the narration of my life, Hiiragizawa-san…" her smile was still intact.

"I'm sorry," Eriol said without even portraying any apologies at all.

"So… your offering? I don't mean to be rude, Hiiragizawa-san, but I do have other thing to do, so please be quick,"

He nodded. "I propose to erase your memory,"

"… Erase my memory?"

"Yes. So you don't have to kill yourself to end all those painful memories of your pathetic life and the pain of losing beloved people. No pain, no sin, just a comforting numbness. You will forget everything,"

"Hm. And what will happen with my new life then?"

He playfully widened his eyes as if she had just said something completely ridiculous. "Why, Daidouji-san! Why you need to ask?"

Before she could reply to express her confusion, he had continued his speech:

"You will have no life,"

It was then that she sensed that Hiiragizawa Eriol was indeed a very dangerous persona. Someone who thought that a person's existence was just another unimportant detail of the Universe story was undoubtedly a genuine psychotic. His offering was not to stop her from a suicide to save her life, but it was to…

To simply erase her existence.

No Daidouji Tomoyo in this world.

Hm,

Funny.

He shared the same ideal of hers.

"What will happen with the others?" Tomoyo asked again.

"Hmm…" he put his point finger on his chin as if deliberating. To her, it couldn't be a deliberation. He must have already had his own scenario –this was the typical Hiiragizawa-san anyway. "I don't know. I could simply erase your existence in everybody memory, but I haven't decided yet. Ah, don't worry, Daidouji-san, at least I will always remember you,"

"And what will happen with my body? This body will continue to live, right? Without the Daidouji Tomoyo soul but –"

"Nuh-uh. Don't get me wrong. You will still have your soul,"

She eyed him in question. "What do you mean?"

"You must see, Daidouji-san. Erasing your memory doesn't mean that it's killing your physical body or killing your soul. If your soul is gone, then your body will be dead as well. And that will be the same as killing your own self,"

"Then…?"

"Then I want to make it clear to you, that I'm not going to let your body die, I'm not going to take your soul; I just want to erase your memory. You will still have the body of the Daidouji Tomoyo, the soul of the Daidouji Tomoyo, but without the memory of her. You get the point?"

She eyed him sternly. "Yes,"

"Good," he grinned. "So, do we have the deal?"

She knew, she knew perfectly what a monster Hiiragizawa Eriol could be: a scheming bastard who always hid his personal agendas and tricked the others. He was using her, manipulating her…

But…

On the other side…

She didn't really care about her life anymore.

Sakura was gone.

Her mother was gone.

Really.

She had no reasons to live.

She just… couldn't.

Alone.

Forever.

Such…

Pain.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't need this fuckin' life!

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"I understand that you need time to think, Daidouji-san,"

His words brought her back to reality. She blinked and realized that she was still standing on this windy cliff by the sea, with the reincarnated sorcerer in front of him.

Hiiragizawa Eriol smiled. "Come to my manor in 3 days if you agree to my offer,"

She gazed at him, still trying to break his scheming.

"Hiiragizawa-san?"

"Yes, Daidouji-san?"

"You said it was a mutualism trade. What will you get in this?"

He gazed at her with such an unreadable look and approached her in calm yet intimidating steps.

She didn't deter.

His alabaster hand reached out and took some strands of her long, wavy hair and let his lips touched the silky strands.

His eyes never left her.

"I'll wait you in my manor, Daidouji-san,"

Then, she felt a knock on the back of her neck…

…And she saw only black.

A/n: Oh, I'm not sure, how was it? If you like, review. If you dislike it, review too. -. I'm open to critics, flames, suggestions. Oh, and yes, I'm sorry I have to kill Sakura's character this early… I hate to do it, but it's for the purpose of the story. Sorry…

This fan fiction will (hopefully) be regularly updated. I don't promise new updates every week (Although I'll try my best to do it), but if I do update, I'll do it on weekends.
