It was never about the money. Kai couldn't care about that. Even though his grandfather was rich, Kai had to earn money for himself. And yet, he didn't enter tournaments with cash prizes.

Sure, sometimes the BBA would insist on giving him something, or some company would want to sponsor him, but Kai always gave that money away to charity. (Not that the media knows that-they'd have a field day!)

No, the things that kept Kai Hiwatari 'blading was the pride and sense of accomplishment. It was his way of stepping out of his grandfather's shadow.

Beyblading was his way of defining himself.
