The sound of keys clicking echoed through the otherwise silent room, as the dark figure worked furiously at the computer keyboard, occasionally cursing and muttering too himself.

Zarkantos cursed loudly and at length when all his hard work vanished from the screen and a little pop-up appeared in the center of the screen and said 'Your time is expired! Please log-in again!' he snarled and slammed his fists down on either side of the keyboard and cursed vehemently.

Its times like these that he really hated having invented pop-ups and that time-out feature on log-ins.

Even if they did do their jobs quite well in aggravating humans, he really wished he had remembered to exclude that little upgrade from his own computer.

He fought the urge to bang his head on the keyboard, and instead leaned back in his chair and began thinking. The project that he'd been working on hadn't been that important anyway, just some new virus that would make every single program in a computer run slowly if they typed in a certain word, but still, he couldn't help feeling pissed off that his work had been interrupted.

The demon ran his hand through his thick hair irritably, and wondered if he should take a break and try out that new video game he had bought on a whim-…wait, that was it! He shot straight up in his chair and promptly logged in again, making sure to set the time-out feature so that he had more than enough time to get this new project done.

Zarkantos laughed evilly as he rapidly began typing, finally making use of his enhanced speed for something other than fighting and hunting.

--Two Years Later--

Zarkantos paused as he walked past the door to the living room, slightly concerned when he heard his wife cursing violently. He backtracked silently and walked into the living, surprised to see that his wife was cursing at the new computer they had gotten after the other one had finally given up the ghost.

He walked up behind her and looked over her shoulder, curious to see what had caused his normally calm wife to get so angry.

What he didn't expect to see was the image of an elf trying to kill something that seemed to be made entirely of metal. He jumped, startled when his wife suddenly shrieked in outrage as her character died, and then suddenly seemed to notice him standing there. His wife took a few deep breaths to calm down and then smiled as she said cheerfully, "Hey, sweetie, I was just trying out this new online game I heard of from Emily –you remember her, don't you?- and I guess I got a little carried away."

While his wife had been talking, Zarkantos had been slowly backing away, and now he replied just as he reached the doorway, "Oh, that's okay, honey, I was passing by and heard you cursing, so I thought I'd see if something was wrong, and now that I know you're okay, I'll just be going to work now, bye honey!" with that, he hauled ass to his workroom, not giving his wife time to answer.

Zarkantos leaned against the closed door of his workroom and took deep breaths, and then he let out a big sigh and walked over to his desk, sitting down in his chair wearily and pressing the start button on the computer.

While he waited for the computer to boot up, he mentally began making a list of things he had to do, the first of which was disabling his wife's computer's ability to play online games.

It was times like these that he really hated his wife's ability to discover anything that had to do with him.
