Disclaimer: I don't own Shaman King
Summary: It's St. Valentine's Day and Anna wakes up to find a note from Yoh. Hoping its nothing bad, Anna opens it to find out her prayers have been answered.
A/N: This is a story I first wrote back in '08. Even though I am working on a lot of other stories right now, I wanted to go back and fix some things to this and add a lot to it. I delete the other three chapters that went along with this because I didn't want anyone reading this for the first time to get confused if I ended up changing too much. I am not sure if I will leave off where I did before or keep it going longer. Leave me reviews or PM me to let me know what you think about the story and if you have any ideas about where I should go.
Thanks,
That Impossible Radical Dame
Can I Be Your Soldier
Walking home from school, Anna noticed there were a lot more couples out then there normally was. She was appalled slightly by how opening they show their love for each other. She wasn't brought up in a home like most people; she doesn't understand the need to be so lovey-dovey with another person. To her being with another person was about both of you being the very best that you can be. Which is why she is always so hard on Yoh. Most people thought it was because she didn't care, but if she didn't, she would have never bother with him. She cares deeply for him. And that's why it bothers her so much that they haven't actually spoke to each other in weeks.
Yoh no longer walks home with her and his friends. He always says that he has to be somewhere, no one seems to know where he is going. He isn't home by the time she goes to bed, some night she hears him come into the house around 11pm. What could he be doing out so late? He couldn't possibly be cheating on her, could he? No, to him it wouldn't be cheating; when asked he doesn't really consider them "together".
Anna stared at the couples as she made her way home. It took her a moment but she finally figured out why there were so many different couples out. "It's that damn day," she thought to her-self as she reached the house.
She threw her bag down in the walk way of the house before walking to her favorite after school spot, in front of the TV; her shows were going to be on any minute. When she walked into the room, there was a pink envelope taped to the TV with her name written on the front. She stared at it for a moment trying to figure out whether or not she wanted to actually open it or not...She had never gotten anything like this before. She wasn't sure how to take it or if she even wanted to open it. For now she put it to the side, choosing to lay down and watch TV.
She didn't think about the card until hours later when Yoh came home. Peaking his head into the room, he saw that the card was no longer on the TV. "Did you get the card," he asked sounding hopeful.
"You mean this?" she asked holding it up for him to see, "I haven't opened it yet."
"Oh," he said as she walked pasted him going into her room.
Anna stared at the card for the second time that day before she finally opened it.
Dear Anna,
Sorry I've been so distance lately, I have been working a lot trying to buy you the perfect valentine gift. I still don't have enough money _ so while I work on getting you that, I work this for you. So here it goes…
Can I be your soldier
Alone on the battlefield of love
No shield to protect you from the pain.
Falling down again and again
Surrounded by fire wishing for rain.
Trapped in the depths of your mind,
An iron case surrounding your heart.
Unable to trust in anyone,
Many times you've been ripped apart,
But…
Can I be your soldier?
Rescuing you off the battlefield
Through the fire and after the rain.
Tending to each emotional wound,
While dusting off that old iron case.
Making right the wrong done to you.
Restoring a glow that once graced your face.
All these words I say to you
Might not come as a surprise
For many others came into your life
Caressing you with nothing but lies.
I can't tell you to trust me
With all you've been through
But everything I say here,
I say because…I truly love you…
Love
Yoh
Anna felt tear's in her eyes as she read what Yoh wrote. She never knew that he felt this way about her. She thought that he didn't care about her. She left her room to look for him; finding him in the kitchen with Ren. Sitting on the table in front of him were a dozen red roses. Yoh was in the middle of talking to Ren about something, but Anna didn't stop to listen. She walked up behind him and embraced him.
Yoh's eyes widden, he thought she had read the card but just didn't care. He turn around to face her but before he could say anything, she beat him to it, "Thank you for the card Yoh. I have never gotten anything like it before."
"Happy Valentine's Day Anna," Yoh said wiping her tears away.
"Even though I am tough on you, I really do love you, Yoh."
"I know; I love you too," he said as he leaned down to kiss her.
Ren smiled to his self as he walked out of the kitchen. He told his friend that everything would work itself out.
