Alone

Felt like writing Mother 3 fanfiction. Also, never write Mother 3 fanfiction while listening to Brothers from Fullmetal Alchemist. Or hell, even We Miss You makes you cry.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shivering in the cold, Lucas felt oddly alone for once in his life. He could always remember having Claus, Boney, his mother or his father at his side. But now, as he stared down at the growing fire in front of him, he felt very lonely. He looked over to his twin, wondering if he was feeling the same way.

Claus didn't seem to be bothered much by the cold, and he was just staring into the flames. Claus' eyes lit up by the glow of the fire, and he looked different to Lucas. Like someone had replaced Claus for some stranger.

Lucas looked down to the ground, wrapping his arms around his knees while he tried to get warm. Someone had already gone to find his father, and his mother would be found soon enough. He tried to think of warm things to pass the time. Blankets, Boney's fur, omelets, and his mom's smile…

The younger twin reached out for his brother's hand, wanting to know that someone was next to him. Someone would protect him from danger. Sadly, Lucas didn't even get a mumble out of Claus as he fumbled for his twin's hand.

Lucas just went back to trying to stay warm as he felt tears forming in his eyes. As he tried to hold them back, he repeated the warm things over and over in his head. He started to cry, not noticing that Claus looked bitter as he heard a familiar roar from the mountains.

Lucas had never felt so alone.
