"JASON! NO!" Spoiler screamed as she cradled the dying body of Raven.
Tommy was not just a telepath, he had died. He had felt his friends die, literally watched their souls travel away with his alien vision. In some part of his mind he pondered that, if he ever actually saw Mitch's soul travel away he would be definitely scared. In fact, he felt scared right then. He watched what was passing as Raven's soul not fade, but instead shift. No one else seemed to notice, but Tommy did…
There was a glow, or rather the lack of a glow that was around Raven. When she had been shot, it had faded in the visible world, but to his eyes, it had started instead to pulse. As her physical body had died, her aura had pulsed, and brightened. Well, Tommy decided, brightened wasn't quite right. It had shifted, changed hues from the abnormal purplish-black to a scarlet and black, then the black faded out to the edges of the aura and it looked more like a blood-stain that spread out, the black fighting to contain it.
"Raven…. I'm sorry" Stephanie Brown said, as she listened to the horrible rattle of the brunette's last breath escaping the dead body.
"This is just… Fucked" Tommy said, watching in horror as the red soul blot erased it's black edges and formed a swirling portal.
"Bartender! Down!" Red Arrow screamed as he tackled Tommy to the ground. The fragmentation grenade that had been thrown towards the heroes detonated in the gutter across the street. Particles of concrete and asphault pinged off the Spoiler's cowl as she cradled the body of the sorceress. Tommy rose from beneath Red Arrow and 'read' the vigilante who had thrown the grenade towards them.
"Thanks, Arrow. Spoiler, you might want to let your boss know that it wasn't all Jason's fault… it's the same tainted drug that is making these punks kill each other." Tommy almost casually mentioned as he took cover in another doorway. Chaos reigned around them, but Spoiler nodded as Roy helped her carry Raven's body into another dilapidated building. Feeling his stock of ammo in the trench coat's pockets, the former Hitman subconsciously drew the correct pistol out of his waistband. He interestedly noted that the former Arsenal was able to pull off Deadshot's trick of using the percussive wave of bullets fired near the gang-member's heads to knock them unconscious as he loaded the pistol and chambered a round.
"Mr Hitman?" Spoiler said, looking directly at him through her cowl and his sunglasses. Tommy raised the pistol and let off a shot at a thug that was approaching him. He shrugged as the criminal dropped dead with the back of his head and his brain gone.
"Still working on that" he said as Roy Harper looked at him with a mix of intrigue and disgust. "Yeah, Spoiler?"
"Boss says he understands. He also says if you can contain Jason without killing him, there's a big paycheck for you… He must be worried" The second part of Spoiler's message was probably not meant for him, but Tommy ignored that part. Instead, his old instincts as a mercenary kicked in and he started tracking the Red Hood with his head. He almost reviled at the rage of the resurrected anti-hero, but instead he gritted his teeth and accepted the job. "Roger that" he said with a nod toward the two heroes. "Anything to ignore the fact that another demon is coming" he muttered to himself as he slipped into the building.
