Watching

He watched as that imbecile Potter argued with her again.

"You're beautiful when you're angry Evans" said James with a smirk.

"Piss off Potter." Lily replied her emerald eyes flashing.

As much as he hated Potter he couldn't help but agree- she does look beautiful when she's angry. And the rest of the time as well.

They used to be friends, Lily and him, until fifth year that is, when in the heat of the moment he called her the one word he swore he never would- Mudblood.

It was all Potter's fault really, he was always hexing other students...mainly Severus himself, and on that dreaded day, he lost control and along with it, everything he ever wanted: Lily.

He watched as they argued with a passion no two others could ever accomplish.

He watched when they came back from summer holiday and how Lily noticed the change in James.

He watched as they slowly became friends, and she laughed at the things he said.

He watched as she finally agreed to a date in Hogsmeade.

He watched as they shared their first kiss under the beech tree by the Great Lake.

He watched her fall in love with him.

He watched her marry the one she promised she would never love.

He watched as their son was sorted into Gryffindor.

He watched their son turn his way in the great hall and the stabbing pain that accompanied the look as he recognized the messy jet black hair and emerald green eyes. Her eyes.

And finally, as his vision begins to blur, he watches as her eyes meet his for the last time, and his last thought is:

'Lily.'

Authors note: Well, I've never written a Snape story before, I decided to try it. Of course it is centered around Lily, but I had to include James in there as well, just because it feels like Lily is cheating on him if it's just her and Snape. Lol. I also liked my idea of having Snape's dying thought be Lily because well, Harry was there when he died and Harry did have Lily's eyes. A HUGE thanks goes out to dyly for beta-ing this for me! Thanks for reading! Please review.
