The Awakening (Redone)

I didn't like how they did The Awakening, I had my own thoughts on how it would happen, and here they are.

I couldn't see.

I couldn't feel.

I couldn't smell.

It was as if every part of my body had shut down.

It was as if I had died.

All I remembered was falling, painfully falling.

Then waking up in the arms of an angel.

Katara sat next to the bed on a chair brought in by Sokka. She couldn't help but cry. She had cried ever since that day. That dreadful day.

If she had only been there, to protect him, like she always had. If only she could see his gray eyes open. If only she could see his goofy smiling again. If only…

Now all there was were pain filled eyes, shut tight. His smile was far from goofy. She couldn't bear seeing him like that.

For the past few weeks, Katara had been as lifeless as Aang.

Moping around.

Toph hadn't even heard Katara talk since that day.

Sokka hadn't seen her smile, no one had.

They thought that if they had The Duke and Pipsqueak come along and help, they could make her laugh or at least smile. It didn't work.

She healed Aang everyday.

She did talk a little. But that was only to Aang, she told him about her day, and how she knew he would get better, and how strong he was being.

Every night she cried herself to sleep, and every day she sat with him.

She was beginning to wonder if he'd ever wake up.

She tried to stay hopeful, but it was very hard.

But that one day, she cried the most. It had been three weeks. She knew he wouldn't wake up and she finally just burst.

So there she sat, crying on his chest. It rose…..it fell……it rose……it fell. She expected it to stop any minute. That is….

Until she heard him cough.

Katara's eyes widened.

"Aang?!" She said, voice ragged from not talking.

Aang grunted. He slowly opened his eyes.

"K….Katara?" Aang said, barely a whisper.

"Aang!" Katara yelled, wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace.

After the hug, Katara took his face in her hands.

"Your okay! Your okay….." Katara said, smiling her first smile in 3 weeks.

She pulled him into another hug.

"Wh-what happened." Aang asked.

"It doesn't matter, just promise me you'll never leave me again." Katara said between sobs.

"I promise." Aang said, taking a deep breath, "I promise."

And he kept that promise for the rest of his life. He never left her, and she never left him.

The End
