This is after Shanks shows up on the island, but way before he looses his arm for Luffy~

Shanks walked about the town, Luffy the small boy he was, at his shoulders. "I wish you were my dad. I don't even know my dad. Why aren't you my dad?" Luffy huffed as he rested his head on Shanks' and pushed the sides of the straw hat down against the red-hair.

"Because if I were you'd be a punk." Shanks laughed. "OH WAIT." he burst out laughing, Luffy then pulling at his cheeks angrily, huffing even more.

Shanks walked from the wide-open fields of the island to the diner with Luffy on his back. "Ohhhh." Shanks groaned crouching down and pulling his hat off. "Alright then. Off with you, Anchor." Luffy grumbled sadly and slid off his shoulders. Shanks stood back up, placed his hands on the small of his back and leaned backwards cracking his back a few times. "OH. Stop eating everything Makino gives you, fatso." he flicked Luffy's forehead lightly.

"I do not!" Luffy pouted. Shanks just started laughing again, fixing his hat on his head as Ben came out of the diner, lighting up. "Hey, Ben." Luffy smiled up at him as he moved out of the way.

"Hey, squirt." Ben shook the match out, smiling at him and looked over to Shanks. "Capt'n." he gave the same smile.

"Ben." Shanks with his hand still on his hat, gave a little nod and smile back.

"Where you going, Ben?" Luffy clung to Ben's pants, looking up to the much-more-towering man than Shanks.

"The ship." He bent over and ruffled Luffy's hair. "I'll be back in a little bit. I'll play with you and Ace then." Luffy let go, and watched as he started off on the street.

Shanks sunk down to Luffy's level and grabbed his left hand with his right, and when Luffy looked to him, he placed his index finger on his lips and winked. "Shh." he motioned his head towards Ben as he stood back up and crept to his best friend. Luffy's smile just kept getting bigger and bigger as they tip-toed closer to Ben.

They eventually got to the point where the two were right next to Ben, Luffy in-between the two. Ben laughed as he could see a red-haired smiling twit out of the corner of his eye. Shanks cleared his throat, making him look to his captain.

Shanks looked over a little to Ben, smiling like he did and tilted his head down quickly to Luffy. Ben smiled and kept looking to the distance. As he walked he leaned over and grabbed Luffy's other arm, lifting him off the ground from their heights.

Luffy started giggling as he was swung lightly back and forth by the pirates, who in all, didn't feel all that like they weren't a family at the moment.
