Kataang Week II, Day I; Panda Lily
Peace and Serenity

Aang knew a lot about Katara--probably more than he should considering he had only met her a month ago.

He knew that she loved her brother very much even though she liked to put on a show of being continuously annoyed with him. There was a glint in her eyes whenever she reprimanded Sokka that seemed to say you're an idiot, but for some reason I love you and Aang was amazed at how deep their bond seemed to go.

He also knew that Katara hated the cold, despite her upbringing in the South Pole. The farther north the three of them went the happier she seemed to become; one night she had told him that she had always wanted to try swimming but never could because of the freezing water. Now she swam every chance she got, and Aang would be lying if he said she didn't look right at home while she did.

He knew that her favourite thing to drink was Jasmine tea only because she loved the name Jasmine and that she had a vast curiousity about the history of the other three Nations just as much as she did about her own.

But the most important thing he had learned about her so far was that she loved panda lilies more than almost anything in the world. They reminded her of her mother, a flower with a sweet disposition and immeasurable beauty that shone like the moon when the light hit it just right; they brought back all the good memories Katara had of her and they made her face melt with happiness.

It was her looks of fond remembrance that compelled Aang to set a single flower on Katara's sleeping bag every day while she bathed; the least she deserved in this world full of war was a symbol of peace and serenity to give her hope.
