I do not own InuYasha or any of the characters created by Rumiko Takahashi

Moment in Blue

The lamplight flickered in the warm autumn breeze, sweet and fragrant. Inside the little house, though, the air was scented with the smell of tears.

InuYasha, the lamplight reflecting warm highlights on his silver hair, knelt in front of Kagome, picked up her delicate hand and laid it in the center of his palm, face up. He let his thumb brush across her palm. She watched it for a moment, then looked up at him.

His eyes were dark bronze in the lamplight, studying her face. "Koibito," he murmured.

She reached up with her other hand and rubbed his right ear which was laid back in apology. "You didn't do anything wrong, InuYasha. I'm sorry," she whispered, her eyes hazy with unshed tears. "I hate being so . . . so . . . emotional."

His free hand cupped her cheek, his fingers sliding into her dark hair. She nuzzled her cheek into his hand.

"Tell me what I can do to make it better, Kagome," he said softly. His lips brushed delicately against her forehead.

"Sango said this happens sometimes before the baby comes," she said, wrapping her arms around him.

He pulled her into his lap. "Let me help you," he said.

She leaned her cheek against his chest. "Just hold me."

"I can do that," he said, and snuggled her close.
