"So that was Seimei," I asked Youji as I crawled in to the bed next to him?
He gave a nod and said "He's nothing like Ritsuka."
"He scared me," I admitted.
Youji laughed softly before he said "What do we have to be scared of? We're immune to pain."
I felt my cheeks redden. I looked away from him and said nothing for a seconds before I felt a weight on my chest.
I felt his hands on my face and he turned me to face him. I saw something unfamiliar in his eyes.
I tried to move my head away, so I wouldn't have to face him but it was useless. Even though he's my sacrifice Youji is psychically the stronger one.
"What are you afraid of? I want to know," he questioned again.
It was different this time. There was no trace of laughter in his voice which was softer. he seemed to be almost trying to comfort me.
"Theres one kind of pain we both know we aren't immune to," I told him softly and slowly.
"I know what you mean. It's almost funny in a way," he told me as he let go of my face and put an arm around me.
I put an arm around him and turned to face him. In the dim light the small lamp on the nightstand next to the bed we were shearing cast over us I could see he was thinking deeply about his words.
"Our bodies can't feel pain so our hearts feel it more then most peoples do. I never thought I would give a damn about anyone other then you but it's funny how we've changed in such a short time," he continued.
I gave a nod and said "It's not that you aren't good enough but it's nice having more then one friend."
To my surprise he smiled and said "It is. Soubi is a little creepy and Ristuka is overly emotional but they're good friends."
"How can you say Soubi is creepy after we met Seimei," I asked in surprise?
"Anyone who can speak so casually with a bloody knife in his hand is beyond creepy. Think of what the chances of us growing up to be that way were before we met Soubi," Youji told me.
"I'm glad we met all three of them. Soubi and Ritsuka are our friends and Seimei is a good reason for us to stay close to them," I said softly.
He locked his eyes on to mine and said "Seimei taught me something about myself tonight. He helped me to discover that I'm willing to kill someone with my own two hands if I think they'll hurt you."
The words themselves were some of the harshest he had ever said but his tone was different then any I had heard him use before. I thought for a few seconds before I just smiled.
"I don't have to use my hands but I think I would if I were worried about you," I told him.
He kissed me softly on the lips. I didn't even have enough time to respond before he pulled away. I met his eyes to see that he looked slightly worried but I just smiled, kissed him back, and said "I was wondering if that was a confession. I don't think either of use can say the words but as long as we understand the feeling is there in both of us thats enough right?"
He gave a nod before he shut the lamp off and snuggled next to me. I relaxed against his warm body and let sleep take me. I might of been dreaming but I'll swear I heard him say "Love you."
