I enjoy writing a lot, but I don't seem to be able to write long stories. So I think almost all of my stories are going to be one shots. Mostly Ouran Host Club ones, with Haruhi x one of the twins. There are not enough of those. Enjoy my second story. Kaoru x Haruhi implied.

If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Ride

Sometimes Kaoru wished that he hadn't given Haruhi up for his brother.

Sometimes he wished that he had been selfish and had taken her for himself.

Sometimes he wished that it was him that got to hold her and kiss her and talk to her during the late hours of the night.

But when he saw Hikaru and Haruhi together, he didn't regret giving her up. How could he when he saw how happy they were? How happy both of them were.

Who couldn't help but be affected by the smiles they gave each other?

It made him smile when he caught the secret glances they sent each other and it made them laugh when they argued. He knew that their arguing was never an all out disagreement; it was usually a playful argument that was covered up by heated words, so as not to attract suspicion from the girls who still thought Haruhi was a boy.

He chuckled and teased his brother when he frantically tried to pick out a suitable outfit for one of their frequent dates; even after many dates, Hikaru still got nervous butterflies in his stomach, or that's what he told Kaoru.

Kaoru would smile as his brother rushed out the door, then would wait expectantly for the door to reopen.

"I forgot flowers!" his brother would exclaim, throwing the door open as he rushed in.

Kaoru would roll his eyes and hand him the flowers he forgot.

Hikaru would grin and dash out the door, slamming it shut behind him.

Kaoru would nod and wait patiently.

"Dang it, I forgot..." and he would state whatever he forgot.

And Kaoru would grin and hand him the forgotten item.

It amused Kaoru to no end, seeing his brother flustered and in a hurry to get to Haruhi.

He sometimes wished he were on Haruhi's end of the story and be able to see how she handled preparing for her and Hikaru's date. He assumed she wasn't as frantic as his brother.

But who knows?

Sometimes he wished he could attend one of their dates.

Seeing the almost dizzy look on Hikaru's face when he came in the front door a few hours later made him grin.

Sometimes he wished that he were the one breathlessly describing the date.

And breathless Hikaru was indeed, especially after he finished his tale. Kaoru smiled when he nearly collapsed from lack of oxygen.

Sometimes he wished that he hadn't helped Hikaru get Haruhi.

And sometimes he wished that Haruhi was his.

But when he saw them together, he would smile slightly and whisper to himself, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride."

But he was ok with just wishing.

As long as Hikaru was happy.
