The song of Twilight
Chapter 3: Boot Stompin & The meeting
Twilight and Char were laughing an carrying on as they went up the mountain hunting for big game. As they were cleaning the fifth deer that both smelled it. The sickly-sweet stench wafting down from the mountain. "That smell?" Char looked at her. "You can smell it?" Twilight nodded. "The stench of death and decay. And unless I'm wrong, its human. But, you know what I don't smell?" Char sniffed again her eyes widened as she realized. "Blood. There is no blood in the air." "Bingo, Notte. We got another Long-tooth running round." The pair tracked it up the mountain and Twilight noticed the log spanning the raging river. "You need to wait here. Across this river is the land of the ancient hunters. I do not wish you to get hurt by leaving my land where the barrier prevents any passage without my permission." Char's instincts told her staying here was a very good idea. "Alright but please be careful." Twilight only smiled before crossing over and vanishing into the forest following the smell.
Within a short time she found a clearing where a native girl lay as if she was asleep. The long-tooth was toying with someone, and realized she had heard about this girl. She went to the beach with Bella once. She constructed a sled, after taking as many pictures as possible with her camera. Wrapped the girl gently in a blanket, carefully tying her onto the sled she drug her back to the crossing. Char noticed the wrapped body. "Did it seem old?" Twilight shook her head. "No. And none of the big predators had touched her plus the most stand out factor was is that, she was dry." It having rained the night and part of the morning before dawn made it all the more aware that there was indeed another vampire out there.
They made their way down the mountain slowly and carefully, Twilight's phone rang and she answered. "Hello?" "What's wrong?" It was Bella's voice, and she had picked up on Twilight's tension. "You might wanna grab the southern shots and call the rest of the day fucked. We found somethin' that's gonna cause some shit-tastic problems for us all. An if ya could bother your dad and get him to drag the rez cop out to my place that be good too." Bella sighed. "Right, Jasper is giving me a look right now and he might be calling you when I hang up.. Eh, what an evil smile Jasper." Twilight chuckled. "Remember Bella no matter how fast you run, he can catch you, an toss your skinny white ass in the pool." Bella almost knocked over her drink. Jasper, Emmett and Peter who had all heard every word snickered. "Your never going to let me forget that they're faster are you?" Evil laughter. "Better chance o' them sexy southern shots... Wait I can't even say that its that far the realm of impossible... Like amoeba-dick suddenly gaining more then two halves of a brain cell to rub together.. Oh wait that's when he tries getting off... Um, Maybe him actually growing a dick and a set of... Shit wandered back into the like Emmett doing ballet fucking realm of impossible.. Fuck I don't even have a measure of that tiny of a dick... I'm not sure the electron microscope could find it..."
Bella looked over and she could see three dropped jaws from the three vampires. Bella snapped a photograph with her phone and saved it to her phone. "Twilight.. Twilight?... TWILIGHT!" "Oww, Fuck.. Thanks.. My brain broke trying to do the equations..." Bella could only giggle. Bella noticed the boys were making their way towards her. "Ok Twilight we are leaving school now." Peter drove so Bella could make her phone call. Hello? "Hi dad." Bella, is something wrong? Did that boy start to bother you again? "No, Twilight to my utter surprise rather adores Jasper and his half brother Peter." She could hear snickering on the phone. Bella, was there a reason you called? Or did you just call to talk? Bella smiled. "As much as just talking would be fun. I called Twilight to check in on how she was doing and she said she found something you and the rez police needed to see. The three of us are on our way back to her house." You and who? "Jasper, Peter and I." A sigh of relief. That's fine. I'll make the call meet ya there. Bye for now. "Bye dad." Hanging up Bella sighed.
~Council Meeting~
The wolves were standing around as the elders were seated at the table. "It has been only a day since Jacob joined the protectors. And yet, I am hesitant to not act on Jasper Whitlock's information. In all our dealings with Carlisle Cullen, he not once would offer something that could benefit this tribe. Putting more of our sons and daughters under his hands would only cause the protector pack to grow exponentially." Harry looked over at him. "What do you mean Whitlock gave the tribe something? Have I missed a meeting or what?" Old Quill scoffed but was silent. "No, Harry you didn't miss a meeting. Last night Jasper called my house to speak to my son about Bella." A low growl and the seated men and one woman all saw the newest of the pack give a shudder. "Sorry." He said. "Its alright son, what Jasper had to say was indeed upsetting and it upset Jacob enough to cause the change to set in." Sue, Harry's wife and the resident healer/midwife blinked.
"What could have been so upsetting over a boys conversation?" Jacob growled at her. "Bella is in danger.." The newest wolf bit out acidly. "Jasper did indeed say Charlie's daughter was in danger, from his own 'brother'. He forewarned that Edward's quest to obtain Bella would draw the worst kind of attention to us here. And I must agree with him." A new voice but in. "I have been walking in dreams. And lately I always wind up in the same place. Awaiting me is a protector so large I stand in its shadow when it approaches, Around its neck is a medicine bag made in the ancient way and a necklace with a blood red stone. It rests its muzzle upon my shoulder so gently as if embracing me. I hear something yet the words are yet unclear, but I feel safe and calm in the presence of this unknown one." Old Quill's voice had silenced all sound, it wasn't often the oldest of the elders spoke but he was the one of them gifted with dream-walking.
"This meeting that Chief Black has spoken about between us and them, must take place. But, we elders shall accompany you protectors because I feel that is what Taha Aki has commanded." There were nods. "What about the rest of the cold ones?" Billy spoke up then. "Jasper said Edward had gotten himself noticed by a friend of Bella's someone not from here. It is this person I think who has made Bella realize something was amiss." Billy's phone rang. He answered it and after a few moments hung it up. "Sam, the tribal police have been issued a single use invitation to the home of Bella's friend. Apparently her friend purchased the neutral territory where we used to meet the cold ones and somehow created a barrier to which neither the cold ones or the protectors may enter without invitations." Harry looked at Billy. "That is lost magic." Billy smiled. "Jasper also gave me the hint that if we approached Bella honestly and her friend with how good the tribe has been to her and her father. We could be given the opportunity to be taught the lost art once more."
There were nods when Billy looked at the others. "We will wait here until Sam returns from where he is going. Then we will make our way to the cold ones place. I will call Jasper and inform him of our arrival." The meeting broke apart and the Alpha vanished to get his truck. Sam sighed as he got into his truck after changing clothes. It took next to no time to drive to the neutral territory. He felt it as he passed through the barrier and to his surprise he smelled cold-ones and Chief swan and his daughter, plus a new scent, a scent unlike the others. He got out of his truck and found Charlie leaning against the hood of his patrol car. He could see the cold ones on the high porch, clutching coffee mugs and to his surprise he smelled the hot coffee within. "Charlie?" The man turned to him. "Bella's friend Twilight found something up the mountain. And you should see." He smelled herbs, purification herbs and ones used by his people to sooth spirits of the lost. He saw the smoking bowl above the wrapped form's head. "What is it your have found?"
The eyes of a blue that spoke of spirits looked at him. "We were up the mountain hunting, and we found her lying in a clearing. I took photos. But I could not leave her there to be..." the words were bitten off as if she was angry and she shook softly as she handed him the camera. He took it and thumbed through the photos, his control sorely tested. "Thank you, she was reported missing only a short while ago. We hadn't even had time to issue alerts." Those eyes met his, for some reason he felt some kind of connection. "She was dry." The words were to soft for Charlie to hear but he heard her clearly. "Dry?" He rumbled questioningly. "Yes, and even though the air smelled... There was no blood." His eyes focused on hers with an intense focus but she didn't look away. "None?" He growl-whispered. "Not in the air or on her clothing." He fought his wolf for control but in doing so looked away from those eyes. "I must take her home." She waited for him to load the child and handed him a bundle of herbs. Herbs of healing, most very rare on the mountain Old Quill treasured these herbs like gold. One he didn't recognize. "Thank you. We will attend the meeting later on."
He left returning to the tribe, the girl had been taken away so he approached the elder with the bundle of herbs. "Elder the one who found the slain child sent these." The elder looked, started to turn away then snapped his head back so fast few realized at his age he still had that speed. "Bring me clean cloth!" A clean white cloth was brought and spread before him. Old Quill carefully set each herb down on the cloth. That was when Sam noticed the bottoms of the herbs had little canvas bags tied to the stems. "Who gave this to you Alpha?" The elder asked, Sam rubbed his neck. "The friend of Bella's Chief Black spoke of. Was something wrong with what I brought back?" Old Quill shook his head. "No grandson, these herbs have been all but lost to us. But you see these little bags? They contain seeds. Hope, grandson hope for the future. These herbs heal the protectors, ancient medicines, thought gone forever. This is a gracious gift. Did she ask for anything in return?" Sam shook his head. "I smelled purification and spirit herbs when I arrived." Old Quill smiled. "That I could smell from your clothes. A mystery we have it seems."
~Elsewhere~
Marcus and his escorts landed and debarked to find Eleazar waiting for them. "Lord Marcus, it has been a long while." Marcus scoffed. "Eleazar, I need to find the Captain. I have been told that something has changed. And right before I left Volterra. I stopped in to see an Oracle I have kept hidden from Aro and Caius. Her warning was most dire. Go swiftly Lord of the Castle, for you have been lied to and misfortune shall befall your heart should you not act. Guard your back, watch those who wear the black robes.. For a murderer lies in their arms. A secret kept from ages past will be unearthed, cast into the light at last. Fair warning unto you I give... Heed these words well Honos, The solider will rise up once more. But he shall only be the beginning. For Ares will awaken and his wrath shall turn trees to splinters. Honos and Ares will carve a path of carnage unlike anything seen since the Plague. The roar of Ares shall summon forth Death. Only Ares and Honos will stay the bite of Death." He looked at Eleazar letting the other vampire soak in the words. "How accurate is this Oracle of yours Lord Marcus?"
Marcus sighed. "Her words spared Dmitri's life from an ambush. She sent me a letter that arrived just before he was to leave, warning if he went he would never return." The man nodded. "Then it is my advice you contact the Captain first. See if a meeting can be set up." He hit the speed dial and it began to ring. Hello Master Marcus, how are you faring? "I am with Eleazar and not far from you. Is it safe to meet with you and the Major?" There will be a meeting taking place soon, if you wish to be a part of it you should hurry. It will be held at the Cullen house. The call was ended and they were on the road within moments.
~Twilight's house~
A raised truck pulled into the grassy lawn, a beautiful woman got out her stunning black hair was upstaged only by her vivid red eyes. "Mama!" The native woman turned to see her youngest all but run down the stairs towards her. "Mi Bella Notte! Who dared make you cry!? Mama will pull there eyes out and make them sorry." A snicker told her her oldest was watching as she cuddled her poor beautiful little bird. "Little bird who has changed you so? Who has made my radiant swan into a shy starling?" Two snickers and a sob. "Edward, wouldn't let me wear what I wanted. Alice went shopping and they turned me into Bella-barbie. Twilight's gonna torch pretty much all my closet." Ghostwolf frowned as he got out the truck. "Twilight is it truly so foul you wish to set it aflame?" A sound. "Its frilly prissy shit Dad. Its shit we were never raised wearin' because it tears, stains and all around is made into rags to easily. Setting it ablaze is the least I wanna do. Fucking Fuckward had the balls to be a spyin and a peepin creeper, but my Southern Shot Combo got his sorry ass. Papa its time for some old school ass whoopin!"
Ghostwolf looked at his mate, his eyes a spectral blue. "We go." Bella was happy to feel the strong cool arms about her once more. No one could get her, she was safe, mother and dare she think it father had come. Twilight brought Char close to the two natives. "Char, these are mine and Isabeau's parents. Ghostwolf our father. And our mother Brightfang." Char curtsied and both smiled, Char knew they were older than her and she could feel the power rolling off the female. "in the truck girls, I think its better if you and your friend ride in the back Twilight." Twilight only grinned and lept into the back with a grin, Char followed she was excited. The truck pulled out of the house she felt the barriers go up to full strength behind them.
~Cullen House~
A table of freshly cooked food had been laid out, some sent by Twilight with Jasper and Peter. Edward had had a huge fit when he realized the vampire was still around. And they found out an added bonus of the necklaces. Edward couldn't get a fix on their thoughts they came out very jumbled to him. When the tribal elders appeared in their cars, the wolves emerged from the forest. A few moments later Marcus drove in. To Jasper this was starting well, Edward would have a tougher time causing trouble now. A truck trundled up the drive and he heard heartbeats and Bella's laughter. The truck stopped blocking the driveway and who first got out was a native man. "I am Ghostwolf, father of the girl who has been manhandled. I am displeased." Then two women got out. A native woman and to his surprise, Bella dressed in jeans, leather jacket and a comfortable top. "I am Brightfang, Cullen clan I am disappointed in you!"
Char and Twilight got out last, all of them were gathered at the front of the truck, with Twilight in the very front of the formation. Bella a step behind and to the side of her. Marcus was entranced by the human girl, he could smell her but her scent was being overpowered by the scent of thunderstorms, winter nights and sakura blossoms. A voice called out startling Marcus from his contemplation. "Look Fuckward, your control of my sister ends now. She isn't your property, not your woman and certainly not your fucking snack Long-tooth!" Twilight's voice had a strange double echo to it, but Edward snarled enraged. "You lowly human! How dare you interfere! She is mine! I saved her protected her, she is my lamb! How dare a lowly, ugly thing like you think you have a say." Jasper snarled a low threatening tone. "Watch yer tone talkin' to ma Snapdragon boy." His accent was getting thicker, Peter wasn't exactly happy. "And if you think she's ugly your fucking blind Pissward!" A snicker from Twilight's direction.
Ghostwolf held on to Bella, but his gaze was on Twilight. "Are you sure of this daughter? Once revealed it can not be hidden again." Twilight didn't take her eyes from Edward's black ones. "He's threatening Bella, this is the only thing that will make him stop. I'll be boot stomping his ass, I warned Velvet an Jasper. He crosses the line his ass is mine." Edward scoffed, the smell in the air was clouding his woman's perfect scent. He needed to get her away from there and dress her properly befitting a lady. Alice slid into a vision. Again the blurred thing and the glowing eyes. The scream of something being torn a part and the crunch of stone, the cry of glass and metal. "I am not afraid Alice." Alice spoke again. "I am, Edward. I hear something you don't." He tensed and he noticed the human crouch slightly, seeing finally she was dressed in only a pair of sweats and a sports bra. "How vulgar to come out in your underclothes." She snickered.
"Bring it Cuntward!" A whoop of laughter from Emmett did him in. How dare his brothers laugh at him! He who had been in the family longest save Carlisle. Edward charged with all the speed he possessed. He was not but a blur when those haunting eyes changed color, blue swirled with iridescent purple. And they glowed with an unholy joy right before it happened, and it happened in an instant.
Suddenly where the woman had stood was a beast that dwarfed the others by far, it lunged forwards to meet him. Its pearl fangs locking around his calf stopping him centimeters from touching his woman and ripping him away. It slammed him in to the ground several times, before it twisted slamming him into his beloved Volvo. Then yanking him back out by one ankle and whipping her entire body around and then it released him sending hurling into the house like a morbid frisbee. He crashed through the living room wall and took out his piano. He lay there for a moment. He got up then rushed upstairs into the former Confederate officer's room and grabbed a couple of items off his shelf then burst out his window hoping to surprise the beast. He could hear its thoughts. Fuckward, Pissward, Assward. Your battle strategy could use some work. He tossed the objects at her hoping to use the diversion to get to Bella. Twilight was lucky the wind was working in her favor and she smelled the scent on the items.
My Major.. She caught them in her tails and noticed his change of direction and lunged into the air, catching him off guard. Her fangs pierced his hip, wrapping around the joint, she pushed him into the ground than began shaking him like a rag doll. Bella looked at the huge creature her friend had transformed into. "Holy shit.. Now that's an ass whoopin." Ghostwolf looked at the two men who stood apart from the others. "Who are you?" Jasper realized the old one was talking to him. "Major Jasper Whitlock." Ghostwolf's eyes landed on Peter. "Captain Peter Whitlock." Ghostwolf smiled.
"I have heard of you both." Both winced. "But I believe we have more pressing issues at the moment." One huge fore-paw being used to pin Edward's arms to his chest. The second came to pin his free leg down. A low threatening snarl boiled from the wolf-like beast. "Let go of my child!" Carlisle cried out. A voice sultry and feminine spoke then, echoing in their minds. No! He dared threaten my sister.. I shall bite him to death. Blind are you to his lies and deceit, how jaded you are to those around you. You are unfit to lead. Alice cried out under the beast's paw. "If you attack Carlisle... You do not survive.. All I hear is an earth shattering roar." Marcus decided it was now to step in. "You are correct he is unfit to lead." The beast's eyes met his and he saw the necklace gleaming around its neck, his emotions flared and Jasper stumbled from the force. Pain, longing, remembrance, loss. The growl of displeasure shook the vampire under the wolf-ish beast.
Jasper reached out with his power. "He wasn't attacking, he lost someone very important to him." Peter steadied him and he came closer. His hand touching the well muscled flank of the beast. Major, that power I felt the other day was you. It has the same warmth as before. Can you hear me too Velvet? Peter chuckled, his southern accent loose as he felt warmth curl through him. "Yeah sugar, loud and clear." Bella can not hear me, she is a double shield. "What is a double shield?" Eleazar felt this was his cue in the conversation. "A double shield is an individual who can shield both mentally and physically. Why were you asking about them? There are very rare people." A threatening vicious growl came from Twilight that vibrated all those touching her. For Peter and Jasper it was a truly pleasant experience. For Edward he could see Bella with that dog Jacob or worse a human.. Then a pain worse than the burning began where she was biting and he screamed.
Brightfang sighed more than a little amused. "Come Mia Bella Notte." Bella followed her as she approached the vampires and the elder of her children. "Jasper, you should try to get her to let go of the fool or he will die." She looked at Marcus and he was still staring at something. "Twilight your pendant. Lord Marcus wishes to see the pendant your aunt gave you." The voice returned and it was more than a little angry. This pendant is all I have of her.. Of the husband she told me of who I never met. Why would he wish to see my pendant? Answer that Lord of the Long-teeth, and I will give you my answer. Marcus realized he would have to reveal the connection if he wanted to make sure if that was the pendant he made with his own hands. "I cast, with my own hands the pendants for the royal family of the house of the Volturi. Aro's, Caius' and mine are all larger and different from the one you wear. But the wives wear a blood ruby with the crest underneath, the name of their husband on the back on the crest. That crest looks exactly like the one I cast for my wife Didyme."
The beast was still then everyone was standing in a field of wildflowers, the smell of sunlight and the flowers so pleasant. Then Marcus saw her, his Didyme. "Little star, you have been such a good girl, hiding and learning all that I have sent you to learn. But my brother can never know you exist." The small child looked up at the vampire who held her. "Why?" "Because my Star he is greedy for power. And I fear for the life of my husband.. Aro uses that fear to force me to use my gift. My husband and I are not mates but because I can make people happy, he believes we are.. Aro is using that and Chelsea to bind him to the coven. Oh Little Star, if anything should happen to me you must leave these lands and run south, grow strong and when you are ready come back and stand tall. You are the first of a new breed." The little child hugged her. "Aunty, is that why you took away the other necklace?" Didyme smiled fondly. "Yes, this way you will be under my husband's protection in our world, if you are found before you are strong enough to protect yourself. Be kind to your uncle, he has been lied to for so long. And I can't tell him anything with Aro watching my every move and thought. Its only because the necklace your mother gave me some how blocks his gift from seeing anything to do with you at all. I have arranged documents and things to come to you if something happens to me..." The child shook her head. "No! You won't go away forever." Didyme petted her now white mane of hair. "I may be harder to kill but I can still die."
The child made a face so sad it broke Jasper's heart. As the necklace was placed around her neck. "Whats do you want to do with it?" Another head pat. "Hang on to it until you return here to claim your place. I have heard Aro laugh himself silly more than once about the Olympic coven who lives near here. Force them into summoning Marcus. You are a canny and resourceful child. Use the power at your command if necessary. Put an end to Aro's lies and free Marcus. This is my last wish, will you see it through?" The child nodded. "Yes Aunty." The memory ended and they returned to awareness. Marcus looked at the creature stunned. "That was a memory?" It released Edward's stone flesh to nod, eyes reflecting a sadness that Marcus knew all to well. From near five hundred years ago... It was the last time I ever saw my aunt.. Before winter set in that year a large package was delivered to the territory line with my name on it.. And I left the tribal lands as I had promised my aunt I would to not only protect myself, but the tribe from the long-teeth. Marcus realized this conversation was a private one and was grateful.
"He is?" If you mean is the one called Aro my father? Then yes he is, he seduced my mother who unknowingly to him was a spirit warrior. Together they created me. The elder of the southern tribe called me a War-wolf. The shaman called me something else.. Marcus blinked slowly but was interested. Death, the shaman called me death the moment she saw me transformed. Never would she look upon me again. Marcus thought about it and he realized, it ran about the same time when Aro had been perusing his singer. "What you say makes sense." Another memory swallowed him alone and he was standing in a long house. He could see his Didyme and a native woman with hair the the pelt of gold he had never seen before in living beings. "Rain-night you must never allow him to find her. If you do your child will be used as a weapon of war, and death shall flood the land. I must tell you something and you need to pass it on knowing that I can not tell you a lie." The native's silver eyes gleamed. "I am listening Didyme."
His Didyme looked about to cry then venom tears trailed down her cheeks. "Aro is using Marcus. Because he can not best him in battle as Marcus is older by a few years. He needs him to keep control of most of the guard. But, Aro isn't playing fair or by the laws he swore to uphold. He is using gifts to hold Marcus as a part of the coven, I care for Marcus to much to watch him die and he is forcing on pain of death for both of us to influence Marcus' happiness. He uses Chelsea to tie him to the coven and I fear one day he will be the cause of my death in order to ensure Marcus' continued service to the Volturi. Keep your baby away from them. When she is older pass this memory on to her in case something happens to you. I lave left much my husband needs to know that will come to your little Star in the wake of my passing, specifically if Aro is at fault." The mother spoke then. "Like what Didyme?" His wife smiled. "I have been hiding my brother's large allowance for me for years and I will continue to do so for as long as I live. This way she will never fear of going hungry." The women clasped hands. "You are a good soul. I will pass this message on as soon as it is safe to do so. Your Husband will see it. What do you want me to do with Aro's necklace?" He watched his wife pick up the pendant. "Put a scent sealing spell on it so that no matter how much time passes, Marcus when he opens the box in which you keep it he will smell I have touched it last and he will know the memory is true." Didyme lay the pendant in a finely made wooden box, a couple of spells were cast and the box was shut. The memory ended and he looked into those gleaming eyes once more.
"I must see that box to validate your claim." She turned her head and raised it, Char came forward carrying a worn yet recognizable dark wooden box. Char stopped a respectable distance away and waited, Marcus came forward and with venom pooling in his eyes he touched the box before gently releasing the catch and opening the box. The scent of sunlight, pure happiness and warmth filled his unbreathing lungs. He lifted out the shining pendant, it was the source of the smell and turning it over he saw the name embedded in the metal. Aro. It was real.. He had been lied to and no one would control him any longer. He felt bonds within him snapping like thin strings. Suddenly he felt free and took a deep breath as his face seemed to come back to life. "Marcus?" His red eyes opened and he looked at Carlisle's tawny ones.
"I have been set free of lies." Alice cried out. "I see a field aflame but the fire is blue and I hear screaming and purple smoke is choking me.. But I see two figures walking midst the flames. Clad in jeans and they gleam as if drenched in venom. Something seems to be drawing them to the center of the battlefield. So many bodies... Oh god, I see Bella... She smiles at me and she's saying something but I can't hear it... No! She's dying and everything is turning to ash.."
Marcus growled softly. "I was lied to for so long.. Didyme. Was this your wish? To have me see the lies at last, to feel alive again. Because I do." Edward was looking into the fangs of that beast, venom coated fangs. Yes Assward, your getting it. I can kill you so much more effectively then even the ancient warriors. Because in my blood runs both. Long has it been said. 'The time is nigh when you look death in the eye.' Meet my gaze and so it shall be. Jasper's soothing southern voice rumbled. "What's that you got in yer tails Snapdragon?" She pulled her tails around carefully delivering a flintlock pistol and a thick book into each vampire's hands. Dicklessward threw them at me.. If they are damaged I want to watch your temper... She licked her chops and they realized only they could hear her right then. Peter burst into laughter. "Sugar, your makin this ol'boy think somethin bad." Mmmm Bad? Or Naughty? I love naughty... Peter tried not to groan, Jasper about lost it as the surge of emotions washed over him. My Major, My Velvet. Her tails curled over their hips. They both grinned, so many ideas crossed their eyes.
Brightfang came over to the three, seeing Edward being stood on by her eldest she snickered. "Oh dear. How I can't help but think you will be the ass end of jokes around the house for months boy." Then the voice was heard again. Mama its fundamentally impossible for Doucheward to be male.. After all, kinda missing the important piece for most men to feel perfectly at home. Brightfang blinked. "Your telling me?" Has a penis that is so damn tiny the electron microscope can't find it? Yes, yes I am.. The next thing Brightfang heard was uproars of laughter. And one squeak of protest from under her daughter's paws. "And how did you find that out?" The chop licking.. Velvet had PE the same hour... I made Isabeau get me a photo of Velvet changed out.. I rolled all over hearing the rest. Ghostwolf's hand came out. "Pay up wife." Brightfang mumbled of a slew of threats.
"Least you have the good sense to not cause the havoc your sister does Bella." Bella laughed. "Ha me keep up with a bitch who has 'Howl havoc and loose the wolves of war tattooed on her left ankle?' No way. And that's only one tattoo!" Jealous. "I wanted one tattoo! You have several!" I'm a whole lot older too. Bella grumbled. "Dad she cheats." Ghostwolf snickers. "You have said that many times. Usually when she has beaten you at doing something. When she beat up the biggest boy in the playground, pranked the entire football team right after a game. Melted clothes off the cheerleaders who made you cry. And many many other things you two have gotten into." Ghostwolf had seen the grins spreading across the two vampires faces. She only flicked her ears so he knew there was a silent conversation going on. "This is the first time you have ever seen your sister transform and she is easily twice your size." Brightfang chuckled.
"How to separate the idiots from your sister?" Ghostwolf asked in thought. Marcus stepped in. "I will render my aid there. I am quite sure the Whitlock's will ensure no one comes at your elder daughter." Ghostwolf smiled. "I would be more worried for the attacker." Marcus looked down at Edward. "When she moves, you will lie still or else." Edward started to nod but the voice returned. You are not fast enough Fuckward. Not to escape me and the others here, plus there are those my uncle brought with him. I will drag your sparkly ass back to let him tear you apart with his words or bare hands. Don't even think about it pissant. You can't outrun my Velvet at your best. Dmitri came forward to stand near Jasper, Peter felt rather than heard Eleazar. The massive animal moved coming to stand next to Marcus and looked up, he gently and gratefully removed the pendant. Seeing the large blood ruby he turned it over and saw with his own eyes the word pressed into the back. Marcus. His heart hurt but not with the depth of grief it once held, she reached over and put her muzzle on his shoulder. A most gentle embrace.
He patted her shoulder in silent gratitude. Dmitri hauled Edward unto a hold, the bite leaking a gleaming venom. Twilight walked passed him with a strut in her steps as she curled her body around the two Whitlock men and coming to stand between them. Ghostwolf, Brightfang and Bella were near Marcus who took a deep breath the gentle smell of lavender, honeysuckle and vanilla soothed the irritated vampire. He realized it was coming from the little human. "You little maiden, what is your name?" Bella looked up into the crimson eyes of the pale vampire, his long black hair and something within her snapped. She became lost in the interplay of shades of red in his eyes. How much history had he seen, he was magnificent. "I am Isabeau Didyme Uley, daughter of Ghostwolf Uley and Brightfang Uley nee Atera." A few people dropped things. Chief Black came forward.
"Bella my dear, can you explain to this old man a little more?" Bella looked at Billy and smiled fondly. "Renee abandoned me in a park when I was three. She just forgot I was there. Twilight took me home with her. She appeared only five or six. But, after that I only saw my mother a few times for an hour or so. She wasn't trusted to keep me safe, she signed me over so she could live her life. Twilight beat down a guy in junior high who pulled my hair." The panting that the elders quickly realized was laughter came from the enormous female. Not my fault he continued to try and bully you... Bella smiled. "They would pick on me and Twilight would level people, it pretty soon got 'round that Twilight and I were related even though we looked as different as day and night. Charlie never even called, or if he did she never bothered to say a word. When I was 9 a man came close he was a vampire though I didn't know it then. He scared me and I repelled him with my shield. Suddenly I felt my necklace warm and then father was standing before me. And the vampire was driven away. He asked how I held him back and I told him about the bubble. He began to teach me to harness it."
Ghostwolf spoke up then. "Three hundred years ago, I watched as the woman I loved threw herself between a long-tooth and the tribes children. She is my imprint my very reason for existing. When the change was done, to the amazement of the elders she didn't attack. She said she would never turn her teeth on her own tribe. For the protection of the young we left so many wouldn't need to become spirit warriors. So many more pale faces had come since the death of Rainy-night some two hundred and twenty years prior. Her little puppy had left us to save the lives of the tribe. So we would find the courage to do the same." A memory swallowed them all they were suddenly in trees, the laughter of children. A tiny redheaded girl was being taught to fish by a native boy. "Oakleaf!, That's not fair your taller than I am." The little girl whined. He boy laughed. "Do not whine Starwolf. The elders will be angry with you again." She looked at him. "Why do you call me that?" He grinned at her. "Your mama is the first female spirit warrior ever, your name means star maybe you will be a warrior too and when we both grow up we can chase long-teeth together." She laughed happily. "I would chase long-teeth with you Oakleaf!" A figure emerged from the trees then.
A to perfect, to beautiful figure. He smiled as he slowly approached the children. The little girls lip curled up hatefully, and she started shaking. "Dear children, I am lost can you point me to the village." He spoke their language. Then lightening quick he grabbed Oakleaf and was draining him dry. When he was done he dropped the once vibrant boy like garbage. "Oh I was a bit messy.." Then they saw a pony sized version of the great best attack the vampire, tearing and biting. An arm went flying then a hand and slowly until only the head was left. She noticed their small fire for cooking fish. She remembered the old ones tales. Fire kills them. She piled the pieces and grasped a burning brand with her muzzle and tossed it into the pile. It caught like dry grass. She turned and ran.
Everyone experiencing the memory could feel the strain of the new shape and the need to rest but her mind urging her forward. She got to the cliff and howled. A high pitched puppy's cry. Long-teeth in the forest! They killed Oakleaf! Howls both furious and powerful echoed throughout the valley. Who is it who is sounding the alarm? Spotted one! Heading for the little ones! A powerful double bass. Uley take the western wolves and search the forest. Atera to the beaches and along the territory line. Rain-night is with the young ones. Search and destroy I see smoke in the distance. Who lit it? The puppy's ears flattened. I did Elder Blackwolf.. Is that Rain-night's pup? Yes. Where are you pup? The cliffs, the wind is blowing the stench in my nose.. There are at least three more.. Loud snarls. Do your jobs, protect the tribe. You pup come down and guard the imprints. Yes Elder Blackwolf.
They watched the sheer size of the ancient pack hunting and rending apart a vampire. They saw the pup standing watch outside a hut. A vampire launching itself out of the forest for the promise of a good meal with so little protection. Elder Lahote! I need you, long tooth at the imprints house. Your the closest. The image of a gray-black wolf with Paul's eyes appeared before them. I hear ya pup, we're coming. Blackwolf is with me. My imprint is carrying my little one behind you. You better believe Every wolf is going to converge on you. Suddenly the vampire had to dodge the massive silver-black followed by a black wolf with a long glossy coat. A Russet colored one stood on the roof and when the vampire was a purple cloud of tinder did the wolves send their gratitude to the sky.
The return to themselves left many shaken. That was the day I became a spirit warrior.. I was 4. Oakleaf was a makah who was visiting with his father. Some of our squaw married their warriors and passed down the warrior gene. The great beast shook her head. Jasper could feel the sadness piercing her heart and leaned against her. Peter felt his Yoda kick in. Old soldiers never truly leave the battlefield behind. Ares and Honos are side by side once more, Major and Captain. Between them the power to command Death. From the south comes a foe both old and new. Brace for war. Peter realized he was being held up by one tail and Jasper was holding on his shoulders. "What did you learn brother?" Peter opened his mouth. "I need time to rest before I can pull that one out." Brightfang came over.
"Put him in the back of the truck, it will let him lie down and its shaded." Between Jasper and Twilight they got Peter into the bed of the truck and settled. Ghostwolf got into the truck and came back with a pillow. "Here boy, its better then trying to prop your head on your arms." Peter laid his head in it and realized it smelled like Snapdragon, snuggled into it and his eyes closed. Her white nose ghosted over the back of his neck and he purred gently. My poor tired Velvet. A sleepy smile crossed his face and the two looked at each other. Bella tried to decide what to do. Marcus looked down at her. "Continue with your story." She began telling her story until she got to the most recent things. "Edward doesn't let me buy my own clothes or choose them, Alice does. I can't go anywhere by myself, talk to who I want or even hang out with Jake. Because he finds ways to make it impossible.. Then Twilight arrived.."
The show of teeth was silent but the message was the same. "She hated him from the moment they met.. But she liked Emmett, she adores Jasper and Peter and Char. She hasn't met the others yet because that night she had my phone when Edward was texting me and demanding I come home from Twilight's house." Marcus raised one eyebrow. "You were not afraid there?" Bella shook her head. "Never. Twilight's place is a damn fortress." Marcus looked to the war-wolf. "Explain." My home and territory is protected by a double barrier, invitation only and that invite only works for each barrier. You can't even find the access road without an invitation. Marcus was curious but he could tell by expression that information had been broadcast to everyone present. Bella continued. "Twilight called Jasper and he was allowed in with Emmett, he read all the text messages and he wasn't happy. But he kept Twilight from going off and kicking the shit out of Edward then and there. And she was spittin' mad. She'd over heard that he was having Alice watch me and oh was she doing the trembling. But then Peter called. Jasper was going to take my phone to Carlisle to prove everything in case Edward had deleted his message history. Jasper also asked if we minded if Peter stayed the night as a bodyguard.. I felt fine with Peter there, if Jasper trusted him and Twilight had no issues. I knew he was safe."
In the back of the truck venom tears were streaking down Peter's cheeks. Only on the trust of his brother an Snapdragon. These were good to the soul people.Bella smiled fondly. "We had hot chocolate and watched an old western with Peter before I went to bed. I found Twilight an Peter snugged up the next morning then I made a whole new friend. Char, she's so much fun and isn't restricting at all! Twilight and Char got along like a house on fire. Poor Peter had to deal with being mauled by Twilight's habit for playing with guys hair." Char giggled. "He didn't mind doll. Trust me, that was one happy man." Bella grinned. "We sat an watched the sunrise. It was so pretty. I heard Peter sing song of the south and he sounds really nice, better when twilight played along with him singing. But something seemed missing?" Char grinned at Jasper who was very glad vampires couldn't blush.
Marcus held up his hand and Bella paused. "Major Whitlock, I would hear from you." Jasper nodded. "Snapdragon and I met hours before the incident but there was a pull, a comfort and understanding I have never felt with anyone save Peter. Hours later she texts me concerned about Edward and his actions, I still have Bella's phone if you would like to read the messages." Marcus nodded. "I would." The phone was handed to Felix who brought it over, Marcus carefully navigated through all the messages. "I assume the one answered call is the one you spoke of?" A nod from the war-wolf and he continued. "So many voice mails." Marcus listened to them each one getting angrier and more violent sounding. "Continue Major." Jasper sighed. "When Peter arrived I was reassured that the girls would have a guard I trusted. The girls took to Peter very well. His gift tossed him to Twilight's feet and she pulled his head to her even after seeing his red eyes."
Marcus' brows lifted and he looked at his niece. She bared her teeth at the Cullens. My Velvet fell, I could feel the snap and suddenly I was as connected to Velvet as I was to My Major. At once as if sound, color and light returned to the world when I met their eyes. No longer to the moon and sun hold sway but they.
It sounds impossible to describe but it was so much more. Marcus smiled. "Despite what you think little one, I do understand. So you departed for the night Major?" Jasper nodded. "I stopped at midpoint on the way between Twilight's and our house because I wanted to make a phone call.. I wasn't sure Carlisle would take my words seriously and I was concerned for Bella's safety. I called Jacob Black." The russet wolf barked announcing himself. Bella's eyes widened. "Oh wow Jake, and I thought you and Twilight would get along before because of the whole hating Edward thing... This takes it to a whole new level."
Chuckles from the elders and wagging tails let it be noted how funny that comment was found. "When the news upset Jacob enough he made the change I spoke with Jasper from there." Billy said. "He talked about how he was concerned for Bella's safety. I was also, Jake had told me how the Cullen boy treated her. He asked if I would call up the protectors and make Carlisle see that keeping Edward contained was the only way to keep both of us safe and secret. I agreed." Marcus noticed Emmett and motioned to him. "What about you Emmett Cullen?" He bowed his head."I was present for the phone call Lord Marcus. It was my thoughts that if we had missed Edward's behavior towards Bella for all this time, what else had we missed?" Marcus nodded. "That is certainly a wise question young Cullen, one that deserves an answer." Bella sighed but continued on. "When we went to school the next day, I was immediately confronted by Edward and Alice. Jasper came as support Peter was with me as guard, Char went up the mountain with Twilight. I had to change all my classes because of him."
Marcus was wrestling with his fury. "Carlisle I can not express the full depth of my displeasure with you. To do so would bereave your mate." Esme whimpered understanding he was contemplating killing him. "You have not only endangered your own coven but the tribe to which protects these borders from those who trespass here. And you have done so all to indulge your first borne. No not attempt to lie to me, you forget Edward is not the only mind reader here." A mental snicker. He is so very correct Doc tooth, But unlike yours. I can watch and replay your memories.. Best not lie at all. Carlisle's eyes blackened in fear. Marcus could see the sheer affect the words were having on the vampire and wondered what he was about to learn. "Speak an remember. You stand before me, The Whitlock's and those you have wronged. Your life and the lives of others are fated in your words." Carlisle slumped slightly. "When I finally left Volterra to start my own family I decided I wanted to try something different. We would live a different way. A letter arrived on my desk the day I was to leave. Do not go down this path, fire and Death await you at the end. Was all it said. I left and a while later I found Edward, changed him and taught him my new way of living. Chance brought us Esme. She loved to mother Edward, she is an excellent wife and mate." The female shed tears meeting each others eyes.
"Next came Rose. I found her by accident after a horribly thing had happened to her. She was very hard to convince against vengeance." The low threatening snarl. A female has a right to enact punishment against that! Those crimes are unforgivable to a any soul who has suffered them. Male of female, it makes no difference. Then he tells her she can never have anything to do with puppies.. Every female wants puppies, whats to say she couldn't run a foster home and save pups from the same situation she came from. Snap A thick tree branch turned to splinters under Rose's hands. "Jasper, I like this girlfriend. Much of an upgrade. You into cars?" I like American Muscle & Harleys. But prefer trucks. I'm the country kind. Rosalie smiled she though they would mesh just fine each bitching out with no hard feelings. "Rose saved Emmett without warning and changed him without my permission, but she was teaching him my new way so I let her keep him." Cold cocksucker real cold. Jasper, Peter, Emmett, Rose and Bella realized they were the only ones who got that one and tried not to snicker.
"Then my next most useful appeared, Alice. Along with her she dragged a half weary and worn Jasper Whitlock. Alice changed over to the new diet easy enough. But Jasper was hard, his power far exceeded the others. And continuing to isolate him from the others of his coven slowly wore at his beast until he began to interact with us." The low threatening growl was back.
Marcus turned to see the focused look in his nieces eye, if he didn't get Carlisle to finish he was going to lose a great deal more than a hand. "Carlisle I would suggest you move on before I allow my niece to tear your head off." The others looks to see the fur standing up across the wolf's hackles and the lowest ranked members of the wolf pack were submitting before the face of that wrath. Carlisle's eyes turned black and he went to move but Felix was already there. "Alice kept Jasper contained and my poor first son remained alone until we returned to Forks. Then Edward met his mate in Bella." Marcus scoffed. "You are a fool Carlisle. Bella I have a question?" She blinked before responding. "Yes?" "Did they ever mention singer's to you?" She turned to Twilight. He asks if thy mentioned about humans who's blood who calls to a singular vampire above all others, who he will chase across the world. Should they ever have even a single drop they will crave it forever more. Bella nodded. "Carlisle told me about it. He said I was Edwards singer." Marcus snarled. "And now you have lied to your son and the girl. You know after spending all that time no vampire can ever be mate bonded to his singer, it is against our very nature." Bella licked her lips. "Edward got so much worse and nasty to everyone after phoenix when he sucked the venom out of my blood.." Marcus shook his head now much more sure. "You have sullied many things Carlisle. I will have to ponder a fitting punishment for you. You and your family will remain under guard while I deliberate."
Twilight snorted. Assward, welcome to the real world. There are lots of bigger bad asses out here. Sam snorted with amusement and the female turned to him. The huge clawed paws walked silently towards him accompanied by the father, the mother and Bella turned to look at Marcus. Old Quill watched the approach of the great beast and realized he could see the medicine bag she wore, it was the one from his dream. He saw the two tails dancing behind her and realizing since he had never shared that detail she was the one from the vision. "Who are you?" The child did as she had in his dream, she rested her muzzle on his bony shoulder as if hugging him. Then he heard it, soft as sweet. Grandfather, I am a spirit warrior from long ago. I was born on the land of tribe, five hundred and fourteen years ago. A long-tooth unlike any other came through and though the ancient spirit warriors were fierce, he was stealthy and sneaky. He seduced a female spirit warrior without knowing what she was, and left the tribe lands in peace. I was born 4 months later. I am Romanastra Winter-night of the house of Voltaire. I am blood-daughter of Rain-night the first female spirit warrior to walk among the tribe. Old Quill reached his wrinkled hands up and stroked the thick gleaming fur, hugging the powerful form. "Welcome home Granddaughter. Thank you for speaking with me."
The warm laugh came again. And she lifted her head the majestic beast was indeed a warrior of the tribe. She turned towards Sam and his wolf lowered his head not meeting her eyes. You are far older than I. You have the right to lead. Astra turned, bumping her head with his. Be my beta, you know the warriors better than I. We shall learn from each other. The old man came to the elders. "Hello my brothers and sister."
