Happy in Hell

Chapter 1

"Kore, come look at the new garden!" my mother, Demeter, called. Yes, Demeter is my mother. Yes, Kore is my name. And yes, that makes me the Goddess of Innocence.

"Mother, another garden? You have plenty...as in, every garden in the world. You're the Goddess of the Harvest! Why do you plant so many gardens?" I asked, slightly annoyed that every time she plants a garden she makes me look at it.

"I enjoy it," she said. When I arrived outside, I was amazed. The whole garden was or red, black, and blue flowers. It was beautiful.

"Mother! It's beautiful! My favorite colors!" I exlaimed.

"Yes, Kore dear, I made the garden for you," she said.

"Thank you!" I yelled and hugged her. She said, "You're welcome" and walked inside. I was looking at the garden and then the ground started vibrating. And it cracked open. Oh, and someone came out of the giant crack, too.

"Um, hello, I'm Kore," I said to the man, who had a dark cape thing on. And he carried that sharp thingy that the Grim Reaper has.

Then he just grabbed me and threw me in the hole. I screamed, "Help! What the hell?!" but it was too late, the hole had closed up. Then I landed (very painfully) on the ground. I looked around at my surroundings. It was pitch black, but somehow you could see. There was a dark castle in the distance. I realiezed where I wa quickly: The Underworld. But, why was no one being tortured? Why was I here? Was I dead? No, that's impossible for two reasons, one, I can't die, and two, I was innocent! I would be in Heaven if I died.

"Persephone, you are now Queen of the Underworld, my wife," the man who threw me in here said.

"Who are you? Wait, your wife? No. No no no no no. No no no! No! NO! I have to go HOME!! NOW!!!" I screamed.

"Here, have some pomegranate seeds," he handed me some seeds. I just stared at him in anger. "Eat them, please, and then I'll answer your questions," he added. So I ate them.

"Now, answer," I commanded.

He sighed. "I'm Hades, God of the Underworld. I asked for permission to marry you and it was granted. So now you stay here with me," he said.

"But I want to go home. Please," I begged.

"You ate. You cannot leave now," he said.

"You...you tricked me! You--"

"It isn't so bad here, I promise. You will be happy in time," he said. And I believed it. I don't know why, but I did.
