Disclaimer: I don't own Sonic the Hedgehog, nor Amy Rose.
"I'm not as oblivious as you think I am, you know."
"Don't worry, I know."
"So, you do like me, then. Right?"
"If you have to ask, you seem pretty oblivious to me."
Amy rolled her eyes in irritation, sitting up from her spot on the grass next to her favorite blue hedgehog. Her eyes slowly trailed across the grassy field they had been relaxing in together. She glanced up at the clear blue skies, a content smile tugging at her lips, before turning her head and looking down at the hedgehog next to her. He was lying down, hands behind his head, eyes closed, a satisfied smirk on his face, with his left leg resting on his right knee.
Amy was sitting up, her palms flat on the grass supporting her weight, both legs lying flat on the ground. She turned away from him, looking back up at the blue sky. She let out a sigh. "Well, I only asked because you make it difficult to believe. You run away from me every chance you get, so a girl can't help but have her doubts."
"I have the chance to run away from you now, don't I? Doesn't look like I've taken it."
She looked back down at him, a frown on her face. "Well, yeah, but this is only one time you've stayed with me out of dozens of times you've left me in the dust." She stated in a matter-of-fact tone. He opened one eye to look up at her, looking as though he were confused. "You say that like I don't always end up coming back to you. I mean, I know I take off a lot--"
"That's an understatement."
"--but it's not like you're not on my mind or anything when I'm gone. I could never forget you, ever." A blush came to her cheeks and she felt her heart leap in her chest. "Oh? And why's that?" She said quietly, her heart beating a thousand times a minute. Sonic opened both eyes, smiling up at her. "Well…mainly because that hammer of yours has left some nasty scars."
"Sonic!" She shouted angrily, lightly slapping him upside the head, only making him chuckle. She turned away and rolled her eyes, thinking, Leave it to Sonic to screw up a touching moment. "Well, it's true," he stated playfully, "but a girl like you, is too hard to forget."
Amy felt the blush rising in her cheeks again. She turned back to him and smiled. "Oh, Sonic, that's so sweet!" This time, Sonic rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, don't go gettin' all mushy on me now. Let's just relax and enjoy the perfect weather while we can." Amy nodded, lying back down on the grass. After a few minutes of silence between the two, Amy spoke up again. "I guess I'm just worried you're going to disappear for good, or someone's gonna take you away from me, or you're just gonna drop everything between you and I completely before we have a chance to actually be together." She was facing him now, a look of uneasiness across her features.
Sonic opened both his eyes, turning his head to the side to look directly into her jade ones. He had heard the fear behind her words. He reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers. "First off, I never make a promise I don't intend to keep, and I already promised I'd never leave you. Second off, no one could ever take me away from you; a girl like you is too good to pass up. And furthermore," a smile started to spread across his face, and Amy could feel her heart melting. "Well, come on, Amy. Don't you know I'm already yours?"
Yep, just short drabble. By the way, the promising to never leave her bit is from Sonic X, episode 52. Well, hope you enjoyed!
