The sun was shining bright in the sky this morning, the birds were singing and Nikki felt the warm kiss of the sun on her skin. It felt nice, especially since she didn't remember keeping her blinds open the night before.
"Nikki…" The girl heard something far off, almost a tickling in the back of her mind.
"Nikki….Nikki…NIKKI!" Something slammed into her head the same time she jumped from the loud yell in her ear.
"Oh my GOD, Frankie what the hell? You know you shouldn't wake me up before sundown."
"…I think this counts as an exception" Nikki raised her head from the ground—ground?—she was resting on and looked up at the quiet sound of her cousins voice. The fact that she wasn't screaming should have been warning enough.
"What are you talking—" Nikki's mouth hung open as she looked at her surroundings. They were in some forest, sunlight streaming in through the treetops, the limbs blowing by from the wind ever so often. There were things that were jumping from tree to tree ever so often, and if Nikki didn't want to be called crazy she would say that they looked bigger than squirrels. "Frankie, what's going on?"
The nervous laugh that answered her didn't help the oncoming panic.
"Frankie?!"
"Hey! Hey, calm down. It's not the end of the world"
"The end of the world? Frankie this doesn't look like our world!"
"Well—"
"Frankie, if you make a joke right now I swear to God I will castrate you"
"…Nikki, you know that doesn't make any sense, right?"
"I will so lady castrate you"
"Um…ladies?" A new voice broke through the two girls' argument and two sets of eyes turned to the intruder. One eye blinked back at them as spiky gray hair blew in the soft wind.
"Ohmigawd….Frankie?" Nikki whispered as she hid behind the other girl.
"Nikki! Don't be such a sissy!" Another cough made Frankie pull her head back up and she chuckled to herself. "Um…hi?"
"Are you alright my lady? Why, two beautiful girls like yourselves shouldn't be in the forest by themselves half-dressed" At this he bowed low to the two girls, and then came up next to Frankie and kissed the top of her hand. At his comment both of the girls looked down and noticed that he was right, their clothes had been torn in their…journey?...to this new place. Frankie 'meeped' as Nikki tried to pull her shirt down. The man pulled himself closer to the girls and smirked, while Frankie puffed out her chest and looked right in his eyes.
"And who are you?"
"Oh my god Frankie, that is like the most stupid question you could have ever—"
"The name's Jiraya, at your-"
"Pery Sage! What are you doing?!" The man tripped at the yell, and landed on his face, but he quickly corrected himself and turned around.
"Kid, didn't I tell you to stay at the inn?! I'm doing grown-up things right now, go away!" Frankie and Nikki exchanged a glance, both not believing what they were hearing.
"Oh yeah sure, you know I'm older now! I'm basically an adult and you can show me whatever porn stash you got going on…" The boy speaking pushed passed the man now identified as Jiraya aside to find himself face to face with the two girls.
"Naruto! Our savior!" Frankie exclaimed as she ran up to the boy, though he was dressed a little different from the last time they saw him. In exchange for his new-world clothes he was back in his black-and-orange jumpsuit. His eyes widened when Frankie came towards him. Nikki saw this and tried to pull Frankie back but was too late. Naruto caught the girl, but only on reflex as he then gently pushed her away with red staining his cheeks.
"Umm…do I know you?" Nikki flinched at the devastated look that crossed Frankie's face, but she didn't try to grab the girl back.
"Naruto…" She started out in a small voice, then got louder as her face also started to pink, "HOW COULD YOU BE SUCH AN ASSHOLE TO FORGET ABOUT ME? I HATE YOU!" Then the girl stomped away before anybody could stop her. Naruto blinked owlishly, then turned to the remaining girl,
"Umm…"
"Nope" Nikki started as she looked at Naruto straight in the eye, trying to find anything in his face that would show any type of recognition, "not touching that with a ten-foot pole"
Naruto blinked again, before shaking his head and, his mind made up, turned around to follow the other strange, half-dressed girl. Nikki sighed as she watched them go, trying to piece together the events that just transpired. So, god forbid, they ended up in the ninja world, not the other way around, and Naruto has no idea who they were. She was jolted out of her thoughts by a sigh that came from her left.
"Aw, that's my boy. Taking names and breaking hearts already." Jiraya wiped a tear from his eye as he sniffled. Nikki watched, slightly amused, that is, until the old man turned his attention to her. "So, you poor little thing were left out of the drama, how about I take you to get some ramen to cheer you up?" Nikki's eyes widened, before she turned and ran, yelling Frankie's name,
"Frankie, wait for me!"
Thankfully, it was only a few minutes later that Nikki found Frankie alone, trying to converse with a woman, holding a crying child.
"Lady, I didn't do anything! I'm sorry that your kid wanted the balloon but I saw it first!" The lady growled menacingly at Frankie, giving her a look that would melt the devil. Frankie didn't take the hint, and Nikki ran up to her as quickly as she could before Frankie could dig her grave any deeper.
"Frankie! There you are! I've been looking all over for you" Both of the women turned to glare at Nikki,
'Gees, tough crowd'
"You know this girl?" The woman growled again, Nikki shivered, and pulled Frankie away before she could follow through with whatever she was thinking.
"Yeah, I'm sorry she's…not right in the head" Nikki made a motion indicating to her head. She chose to ignore the anger grunt from behind her. "Listen, she'll give your kid back the balloon, right Fr-an-kie" Nikki said slowly, Frankie glared at her, but Nikki was still able to grab the balloon from her hand and give it back to the mother with a smile. The child happily took it from her hands and laughed, but the mother's face was still grim, and as she walked away she threw them a casual,
"Sluts"
"Oh, I hope your kid bites off your tit sweetheart." Nikki said to her retreating back, and then took a calming breath as she turned back to a still fuming Frankie. "Frankie" Nikki started, "What the ever-living fuck?" Frankie grumbled again, but didn't answer. "Okay, okay I get it. So your boy-toy doesn't remember your name, so I get that you're mad; but I'm still sure that you can use ENGLISH" Frankie sighed, but she relaxed in defeat.
"Yeah, but I mean WHAT THE CHICKEN NUGGETS IS GOING ON HERE?!"
"I don't know Frankie, but I'm not willing to piss off any more people that could help us" Frankie growled at Nikki again, but didn't say anything back as she straightened and looked at something behind the other girl's back, Nikki turned and was met with the sight of Naruto running up to them.
"Found you! Gees, for a girl you run awful fast" As Frankie continued to fume, Nikki raised an eyebrow at the boy.
"Okay, ignoring that last comment, shouldn't you have gotten here faster? I mean, you are supposed to be all ninja-like; you've not been living up to your ninja-badassery."
"Hey! Don't insult my not-so-sly boy—" Frankie stopped herself, as she growled at no one in particular and turned her head away from Naruto. "Whatever, can you just show us where to get new clothes? I don't want to feel like a two cent whore any longer" and with that the girl started walking ahead again, even though she had no idea where she was going. Nikki shook her head at the girl and looked back at Naruto, seeing that he was still watching Frankie go wistfully. Well maybe, Nikki thought, she could help both of her little lost puppy-dogs.
"You know" She started, as Naruto's head swung back to her "She's only acting like this because she cares" Naruto's eyes widened at that, but then looked at the retreating girl's back and back to Nikki.
"So she's like Sakura-chan?"
"No!" She stopped his train of thought right there. "Nothing like her"
"Really?"
"Yes, really" He still looked confused, so Nikki continued "It's much easier to make up with her, if you know how to"
"So how do I—"
"I'm pretty sure any man with a brain can figure this one out"
"But Sakura-chan would never,"
"THAT'S why I said she's nothing like Sakura" Suddenly she saw when it clicked,
"So you mean"
"Yes"
"And I can"
"That's what I've been trying to tell you"
"Are you certain"
"DUDE do I look uncertain?" He shook his head as color started to form on his cheeks again, but a start of a smile was forming, he started walking in the direction that Frankie went. Nikki and him continued in silence for a few moments, before Naruto turned to her,
"Hey, so how do you know who Sakura-chan is?" Naruto asked as his eyes lowered
"Uh…Hey! There's Frankie!"
"That was so a change of subject" Nikki laughed uneasily, rubbing her arm.
"Um…hey, you should go catch up to Frankie now! It's you're chance!" He still didn't look convinced, "…and after I can explain?" He smiled at that, but Nikki had one more thing she wanted to say "Oh, and Naruto? Stop looking down my shirt" At this he turned bright red and began to stutter.
"But, but—I mean they're right there!"
"And that's why you need to get us new clothes, and now you should go get Frankie before she gets run over by that cow-horse looking thing"
"You mean a—"
"I said get going!" As she slapped his ass to get him moving, he jumped at the action, but sped up to the other girl all the same.
"Ah" Nikki patted herself on the back "this couple counselor crap isn't that hard" she smiled, but then the smile slipped from her face as she back away from the two in front of her as she started to think.
She really didn't want to go get new clothes, because that would mean that they would be in this world long enough to NEED them. Something had gone very wrong if Naruto didn't even remember who they are if he's spent so much time with them. She was also worried that Naruto was traveling with Jiraya, because if he was, Nikki was afraid she knew why; and knew where Sakura and Sasuke were. And if she was correct, this was going to be anything other than a picnic.
"See, much better you guys!" Naruto cheerily said as he watched the two girls come out of changing rooms, having put their new outfits on. The two girls looked at each other, examining the less-than-normal clothes, fishnet apparel, and sandals.
"Oh don't you look amazing!" Came the enthusiastic reply from the young sales clerk that came to help them. The girls couldn't really understand why they needed a salesclerk when the shop was only the size of a small apartment and the clothes were mostly normal shirts and pants, unless they were dealing with the shinobi-wear.
"I guess..." Nikki replied shakily as she pulled on a fishnet arm sleeve
Before any further small talk from the clerk, it was interrupted by the growling stomachs of the two not-at-all ninja girls.
"Let's leave this joint and get some food" Frankie bluntly stated while heading for the exit.
"Totally, I'm starved" Nikki followed Frankie out.
"WA..it… hehe" The clerk wasn't too happy about the cloths walking out the store; looks were exchanged between Naruto and the not so cheerful clerk now.
"Not cool guys, why did you just walk out without paying?" Naruto asked once he was able to catch up to the girls who just kept walking around blindly.
"It's not like we would have money anyways" Frankie grumbled in response, keeping a good distance in front of the other two, especially Naruto.
"HUH! What the crap is her problem" Naruto turned to the girl next to him hoping for answers.
"Bro! Really?" Nikki didn't even bother to help him out this time since this was practically strike two and heading towards a game of Don't break the Ice real fast.
At this point Naruto wasn't quite sure what to do, but the more he examined the girl who for some reason wasn't pleased with him, for an instance had something like a de-ja-vue but wasn't sure where it was coming from. Each stare became more confused and intense maybe even a little attraction on examination the more Naruto tried to figure out this one girl but suddenly noticed a scar on her right upper arm, "Hey, Frankie was it?" Those words coming from Naruto's mouth pained Frankie, having her speed up her walk; Naruto wasn't going to have any more of this being ignored, especially since the other girl told him that she could be an easy make-up and not a Sakura.
"I apologize" Naruto jumped in front of Frankie this time "Whatever I did to upset you, I apologize"
"Please move" Frankie was too depressed to really lash out anymore.
Naruto could feel that somehow there was a deep connection "I just want to talk if yea let me"
"About what?" Frankie sighed
"Anything you want" Naruto chirped giving Frankie a big wide grin. Frankie locked eyes at that.
"Don't mind me I'll just pretend to not exist" Nikki said to herself, giving herself a pat on the back for the council work she actually thought helped.
[NANAMI: It did work FYI]
[LTD: Sure and shut your face! I'm about to interrogate a bitch]
Naruto: We get to see you guys again so soon! Yay!
Nanami: I feel so proud of myself you don't even know
LTD: Literally had to sit here and make you post this
Nanami:...well I mean...
Sakura: Nanami you could really rival Naruto over you're laziness
Naruto & Nanami: HEY!
Sasuke: Come on Sakura, lay off a little bit
Nanami: Sasuke my savior! At least I'm not as bad as LTD you guys don't even know
Sasuke: Whatever...
LTD: Hey! Why are you bringing me into this huh?
Nanami: You brought it up first! All's fair in love and war
LTD: There is no love
Nanami: Aww you broke my heart
LTD: You have no heart
Nanami: THAT HURT! *points to chest* RIGHT HERE
Naruto: Why can't we all just love each other?
Nanami & LTD: Shut up Naruto!
Sasuke: Naruto-baka...
