Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter
Blaise Zabini does not know how he feels about torturing Ginny Weasley. When Alecto Carrow drags the Weaslette by her pretty red hair to the front of the Great Hall he knows that the stupid little Gryffindor has finally done it, and he knows that she is going to pay. The Gryffindor first years are whimpering and the entire Hall is abuzz with outraged, rapid whispering. Even under the new regime Weasley is ridiculously popular.
Carrow is a fool if she believes the others will sit by and watch her torture their princess (because that's what Weaslette is, a Gryffindor princess with a penchant for rebellion). He can already spy Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnegan, Colin Creevey and Micheal Corner rising out of their seats, ready to fight to the death (anything to protect their princess, Potter's girlfriend, the baby weasel).
Malfoy can't look her in the eye. She's the only one who can force him to show his guilt, his horror (though they all know it's hiding just under the surface). Even Loony Lovegood's normally serene expression is replaced with fear for her almost sister. She holds a hand to her lips as though to stifle any screams that may threaten to escape as she watches her friend suffer the Cruciatus.
Carrow informs them all that Ginevra Weasley had been given several caveats, but continues to be impudent. She asks for any volunteers, anyone willing to publicly torture the blood traitor miscreant. Blaise waits for Finnegan, or Corner or Longbottom or Creevey to shoot a spell at the toad but the Carrows are uncharacteristically one step ahead. Amycus Carrow had used a restraining spell and now the idiots are unmoving, horror-stricken visages frozen in place.
It seems that there is no one left to protect Princess Ginny, and Crabbe appears ready to seize the opportunity to cause her pain. The brainless oaf adores his newfound power, but Blaise finds it rather unbecoming.
It irks him, the thought of Crabbe getting a first crack at Ginny Weaslette and so he raises his hand coolly and Alecto is delighted. He's never been interested in torture before.
There are boos and hisses from all around him as he saunters over to his first ever victim. There is no fear in her eyes, merely loathing of the highest level. It takes him a minute to prepare himself, and when he says the words she is screaming. She is curled up at his feet, screaming and he knows that the sound will haunt him for the rest of his life. There is a collective gasp from the viewers, and he wonders if he will have it in him to continue, because he finds he does not like torturing very much (and, after all, you need to want it desperately).
A few more minutes of the agonized screams and people are sobbing around him. He can see Loony Lovegood crying silently, and he can see the agonized eyes of the DA, her surrogate family. The candle light is almost fluorescent, adding to the ethereal, eerie quality of the scene.
It is only a few minutes before he drops his wand. Alecto is disappointed and Crabbe is scowling in displeasure, but he swears to himself as she twitches at his feet that he will never torture again.
(It takes many years before baby weasel's screams and tears leave his nightmares)
A/N: It's a little over, hope that's ok, reviews would be lovely :)
