"Why do you hate her so much?!" Beast Boy asked heatedly.
"It's none of your business." Raven growled angrily. She turned to walk away from him, but he grabbed her arm.
"Answer me Raven! Why are you so against Terra!?"
"Because she hurt you! Because you love her! Because no matter how hard I try, you always want her... not me." What started out as an explosion of emotion simmered down into a sad whisper. Her angry façade melted with the tears pouring out of her eyes. His hand dropped from her arm.
"R-Raven..." Beast Boy was at loss for words, his heart beating a thousand times a second.
"Just leave me alone Beast Boy... Just..." she shook her head weakly. "I can't handle it."
"Handle what?" He whispered, knowing the answer.
"Handle these feelings that seem to appear only around you." She gave a short humorless laugh. "Like now. I never used to cry. Now I'm crying over the stupidest thing... a boy. You've probably never even noticed." She looked at him, her emotionless mask rebuilding. With her monotone back in place, she spoke again. "I'm leaving."
"What? Raven you can't go."
"I have to. Nothing will ever change. You will never love me the way I love you." She turned and walked away, leaving Beast Boy with his mouth hanging open.
She moved sluggishly around her room, too weak to use her powers, collecting things to take with her. Suddenly arms wrapped around her. For a second she let herself believe Beast Boy really did love her. That he was choosing her over Terra.
"I can't love you the way you love me. I like you Raven. I was having trouble choosing you or her, but she said she loved me. I told her I loved her back. I can't leave her now just because you say you love me too. You're a smart, beautiful, cute, and amazing person, Raven. Don't think this is because you're a half demon or act all creepy and dark. You're one of my best friends. That's why you can't leave. I'm sorry that I hurt you. That I might continue to hurt you. If you want, I don't have to talk to you at all. It's a big tower. So please. Put all your stuff back." He said all this hugging her tightly.
"Alright... Let's just go back to normal. Like nothing ever happened... I'll be a little nicer to her."
"Thanks Rae, you're the best!" He kissed her on the cheek and left her room.
"It's Raven." She whispered to herself.
She went her bed, gathered a pillow and screamed into it. Several books in her room blew up into slivers of paper that rained around her. Without realizing, her powers brought a picture before her eyes.
It was from two months ago. The titans were at the annual carnival. Beast Boy had his arm slung around her shoulder giving a big smile. She was blushing slightly, a tiny smile on her face. In the background a popcorn machine was about to explode. This was her favorite picture.
She touched it slightly and it burst into dark flames. She was stupid to have ever thought he really cared. With a deep breath she reformed the monotone façade and stood up. Straightening her leotard and robe, she walked out to the common room.
Ravens fly alone.
