I curled up on the couch in my moms office, my head resting on my knees. Mom had gone on a 'classified mission' and was currently somewhere unknown to anyone at Gallagher. Including me.
Today was my dad's birthday. The worst day of the year. The day both my mom and I spent crying and feasting upon hundreds of Ghirardelli chocolates.
This year, I was completely alone. I had skipped class today, telling my oblivious friends that I wasn't feeling well. It was true, in a way. The though of my dad made me want to throw up.
Tears fell down my face as I stared at the picture I had gotten from under my mom's desk. Joe Solomon and my father stared back at me.
Blackthorne....
My shoulders shook as I my mind flickered between Zach's face and my dad's. I didn't know when I would see either one of them again. If I did.
I heard the door open and close, and then Solomon was standing in front of me, his arms held open. His eyes said a million things.
I threw myself into his open arms, and he pulled my down onto the couch, stroking my hair.
"Why did Mom have to be gone today?" I sobbed.
"I don't know," he replied softly.
"Why did Dad have to dissappear?"
"I don't know."
His arms tightened around me, as I clutched him. I needed someone now, and he was here.
"Why does it still hurt? Not knowing..."
He pulled back enough for me to see into his eyes. Tears were falling down his face.
I didn't need an answer. I threw myself into his arms again, letting my sadness fill me.
In the back of my mind, I knew that I shouldn't let my guard down like this in front of Solomon. But something just told me that this was different.
Now I wasn't Cameron Morgan, Gallagher girl, and he wasn't , my Cov Ops teacher.
I was Cammie Morgan, a teenage girl who had lost her father, and he was Joe Solomon, my dad's friend and my shoulder to cry on.
For once, I let myself be that girl. I realized who 'Cameron Morgan' really was. When someone told me to be myself, I knew who that was.
Sometime later, Solomon and I had apparently fallen asleep on the couch together.
I knew this because of the screams coming from Liz, Bex, and Macey as they opened the door to my mom's office.
Solomon and I immediatly sat up, our faces turning red.
"This is totally not what you think," I said.
Macey's eyes were wide. For once, she wasn't totally put-together. "Then WHAT IS IT?"
I sighed, knowing that my hair and clothes must have been a mess. Just not for the reason they thought.
"Today is my dad's birthday. I was crying in here when Solomon came in. I guess we just fell asleep after a while."
"Really? Well, that's relieving," My mom said, from behind Liz.
"Mom!" I yelled, jumping up from the couch and running to her, throwing my arms around her.
"What? You really thought I would be gone today? No way."
Tears stung my eyes as I looked up at her.
"Thanks mom."
She smiled. "Thank Solomon. He's the one who pushed for me to be able to come back today. He called in a lot of favors, apparently."
I turned to look at Solomon, who was grinning like a Chesire cat.
"Thanks," I said with a smile.
"Wait, what kind of favors?"
Solomon smiled mischievously.
"I don't know..."
Hey everyone! There isn't nearly enough Solomon/Cammie fluff, so I wrote some on a whim. Not the best, but I hope you like it all the same!
